How long can we keep this guy? I don't see him leaving for another position coaching job, but I can see him getting a Coordinator's job pretty soon. Look for it to happen after 2015.

Almost made this thread myself a few days ago.

He and Thig are going to require raises to keep around. Azzanni is relentless just like CBJ. Great recruiter, players love him, and seems to be coaching our WRs well.

I'll be surprised if we keep him after this season if we make a bowl, to be honest.

He's not ready in my opinion (for a coordinator role). Our receivers are very talented but they're playing below their talent level currently. Give it another year and we'll know how good everyone truly is.

Maybe our WRs will need to produce at a high level before we lose CZA.

Not down on him at all, but WRs not consistently at a high level this year.

Everybody says this guy is a great WR coach and that his star is really on the rise. I'm not necessarily disputing any of that, but how about we see a really marked improvement in the position group he coaches first before we begin to worry about other teams wanting to hire him away? Don't think we've seen that yet by any stretch have we?

You guys do realize he's been a OC before for a year? He did pretty well too. It's not a long stretch to think he could land another OC position at a lower level college. I just think he likes the SEC level competion, along with coaching WRs.

Actually I didn't. Only thing I realize at this point is that the position group he coaches hasn't come close to reaching the lofty preseason expectations put on them.

Call me crazy, but I think Malone is our best all-around WR. That's just me. You could make an argument for PIG as well. I think the problem is what you just stated, to much hype.

This staff has been together for a long time, if we make a bowl somebody might come calling, think we can keep the staff together for at least one more year, we are on the right track, but we have not done anything yet, plus if we lose one or to, coach will up grade because of the talent we got and whats on the way in 2015, so if they want to go let them, somebody else will get the pleaser of the ride to the top, is the way I look at it.:lolabove: SOMETHING SPECIAL IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN HERE, SO IF THEY ARE SMART THEY WILL STAY AND GET MORE GREEN A YEAR FROM NOW WHEN THE WHOLE COACHING STAFF WILL DEMAND A RAISE AFTER 9 OR 10 WIN SEASON IN 2015.

most potential

best wr: Pig Howard, easily

I had just edited my post right when you posted this :). I could see PIG too. Malone is going to be special. It's not about stats. He just knows where to be and how to get open. North can't create seperation. He's got great hands, but he can't get open over the middle.

Yep. Although we should have expected it. Replacing the OL coupled with average QB play does not equal a scenario for explosive WR play.

The WRs looked pretty good against USC. Pig Howard particularly.

We've just had too many injuries and too much inconsistent QB play for the WRs to really shine this year, IMO.

He'll earn his money next year if he sticks around.

One year at Western Kentucky...kind of an incomplete grade.

North has had a so-so year based on what I saw last year. Malone's freshman year isn't as good as North's freshman year. JMO

Yep. This is the SEC.

It's the progression you usually make. Butch was OC for 3 years at Central Michigan. He did a good enough job to land a head coaching job there 2 years later once he left. So, to say it's not going to happen 100% isn't realstic. Do I think he leaves? No. The guys I worry about leaving are Willie and Thig.

However, when Coach Z was an OC, WKY won 7 of their last 8 games after starting 0-5. They had a RB who ran for almost 1,700 yards. The year before WKY was 2-10. He seamed to do something right. You have to remember he's been an offensive passing coord. under Urban, and the assistant head coach under Butch at Central Michigan.

I'm guessing Butch will keep the staff together for another year. UT will likely pony up the cash to make that happen, since anybody who would be offered elsewhere would be among the ones we most want to keep.
