Tennessee assistant Zach Azzanni will be a candidate to join Durkin as Maryland’s OC, per source. Worked together under Urban, close friends

the fan base for one reason or another turned on him... I would go if I were him

I am not his biggest fan because of the lack of production from our WR's in his 3 years here, and the lack of production of our passing game this year after he was promoted to "passing game coordinator". I feel these are legitimate reasons.

Careful what you wish for.

Azzanni has been one of our best recruiters and has been integral to our success in many ways. While the passing game might've underperformed for a good chunk of the season, there were a lot of different factors for that (injuries and suspensions at WR, Dobbs' accuracy, O-line issues early in the season). While I certainly think it's fair to hold ZA accountable for some of the issues, I wouldn't ignore the fact that he's done a heck of a lot to improve this program. And even if the passing game didn't work smoothly till the Vandy game, our WRs have been excellent at blocking (an underrated reason for our success).

If he does leave for an OC position, I wish him the best, and hope Butch can find a great replacement.

While he may be a very good recruiter, the lack of production from our WR's for the past 2-3 years will end up biting us in the long run and it will be harder to recruit those big time receivers, so I see it as a wash if he bails. Butch has a huge emphasis on recruiting and I am sure that if he has to replace Azzani it will be with someone who is equally as good of a recruiter and hopefully a better WR coach, JMHO

Good for ZA. Being an OC at a major university would be a great opportunity for him to further his career. And we still aren't getting Tee Martin. One never had anything to do with the other.

I'm more worried about what recruits we may lose or not have as strong of a chance with should he go to Maryland than I am if we keep him.

I don't think we've turned on him (or at least I haven't) but it's understandable he's received some criticism. A position that 2 years in a row has been pointed to as a strength in the preseason has under performed.

There have been several factors in that. Injuries, poor line play, and inconsistent down field passing don't help. However, at some point production has to increase.

I want him to come back just for continued continuity and his recruiting ability, but that doesn't mean some of this criticism isn't warranted.

He's okay but not great Tee Martin is the number one recruiter in the country per 24/7 Zach is 38th in the SEC and 124th in the country I hope he goes..from what I've heard Butch had to take over his job late in the year Tee Martin, Wide Receivers Coach (FB), USC Trojans
