Awkward quote from oregons kelly

To be fair, that is what Cal thought in 2006.

I'm just hoping the crowd is as loud as it was for that game.

Ive been going to Neyland since 1975...that Cal game was probably the loudest I remember Neyland in YEARS....the other one was Florida...but seriously the Cal game was the loudest I can remember what makes it stand out was the fact that it was loud the ENTIRE game...not just at times...

When a big stadium is loud it is a factor......but when it is quite its deadly for the home team....vol fans will decide this Sat. night.

Is it possible (obviously not "allowed") to pump in artificial noise with the crowd noise. As to boost it on 3rd downs and such? You'd have to be careful as to keep it quiet enough to not be detected. Heck, what about mics on the back of 1/1000 seats. Good mics.

Sadly I have to agree with Yankee Vol. UCLA came in and won with 100k+ on hand.

I believe Football is won and lost more on emotion than any other team sport, so the atmosphere does have an effect on opposing teams, especially those who haven't been here. But if Oregon is a better football team than UT, that effect will be muted after the first quarter. If Tennessee can hang in there until the 4th quarter the atmosphere can make the difference, but I just don't know yet if the talent is here. I hope it is, and I hope the rest of the world knows that next Sunday!

We played the Nat'l Champs tougher than anyone else last year and should have beat them. We showed the rest of the S.E.C. how to get at Tebow when he dropped back to pass....there is talent here...just not 2 deep talent.

arizona and purdue? really?

No way your stadium is worse than what Arizona has. Imagine 50k ex cons throwing water bottles and knocking out UO cheerleaders. Oh and I doubt Tenn fans would cheer when your team hurts a player from the other team.

That's what he meant, no disrespect to Tenn and your awesome stadium. Just the fact that the 100k fans don't actually want to see anyone hurt and aren't wanting to inflict actual harm to the players, makes it a less intimidating place compared to Arizona.

i'm not a vol fan. arizona has among the worst home field advantages in the pac-10. only worse are stanford and wsu.

i don't think anyone is disputing that.

homefield advantage vs our depth and experience should make this an interesting game.

Yeah, I heard they ordered some humidity to practice in to!:hi:

we can only simulate humidity to 65% but at the very least it should give the guys an indication of what it will be like so that it isn't a total shock when they get off the plane :)

Why can't you yell just as loud sitting down? Are your lungs in the lower half of your body?

My lungs aren't but my brain certainly is...

But back to the subject, Kelly certainly has idea that he is going into a "hostile" environment. He's a good coach. But simulating the noise isn't the same as the real thing, and everyone knows that.

If Oregon gets rattled early, I am of the opinion that the noise will become a bigger factor. So for those going, I hope you give the Ducks as much hell as you can. I'll be there in spirit.

GO VOLS !!!

at the end of the day it doesnt matter...Oregon is a good football team period...its going to be a good game....we are obviously rebuilding and reorganizing, but you cant expect to just waltz into Knoxville and get an easy win...aint gonna happen main...

Arizona fans misbehaving:

YouTube - Oregon Ducks Booed and Bottled at Arizona

Can't imagine people acting like that at Neyland.

Hello Vols!!!

Long time duck fan here, 1st time poster on your site. I was gonna come to tennessee to watch this game but impending birth prevented it. I wish i was comin. Duck fans dont know much about your stadium, but dont think for an instant ducks fans/players dont respect the hell outta your program, your fans, and your stadium. I've got several friends from tennessee that live out here in oregon and they've said that autzen is by far the loudest, craziest stadium in the nation, but you havent seen nothin till you've seen a game Neyland. Supposed to be a truly impressive sight and an even better atmosphere. They would know, right?

But if you think the ducks arent familiar with loud stadium/crowd noise and its effects on teams, you're not paying attention ;)

Anyway, good luck on saturday!!! I wish i was there! Be nice to my fellow ducksters, even when the 8k or so of them who are there are louder than you and wont sit down ;)

GO DUCKS!!!

ps i hear yall got some good whitewater out there?

Sorry to bust your bubbles guys. Neyland stadium is being taken over by the "shh sit down" people. It is just pathetic and pisses me off. I stand up and get loud whether it's Florida or UT Martin. The 12th man won't be as big of a factor as we want. Sorry to be such a Debbie downer that's just the cold hard truth and DD needs to call these friggin fans out for it. If you have vocal cords and you're not screaming on defense get ushered out by police and pepper sprayed then you'll scream.

Michigan is the only one that might compare. That said, I don't think it is going to phase Oregon as much as some people are thinking it will. Fans in Neyland can be quiet at times too.

It might...they have some new, untested players that may become rattled...their quarterback for one!

He ll find out why the ducks dont schedule aways games against SEC teams come saturday! GO VOLS!!
I checked their schedules all the way back to 2005. No SEC teams in there - period. Did I miss one?

I heard this guy give an interview and he really sounds like a buffoon (Miles stupid). I think UT kills the ducks.
