"We've played at big stadiums before so it's not like it is our first rodeo," said Kelly, according to a practice report from duckterritory.com. "Some of our players have played at Michigan Stadium, at Purdue, at USC, at Arizona last year."

Idk abt y'all but Michigan stadium is big,but quiet. I've been there. So is sc is smaller and much quieter than us. Purdues is tiny and Arizona? Are you serious?!?!

I'm happy he's taking this approach. He's gonna be shocked when he sees 103,000 plus of orange and white screaming in muggy temps. This could be huge for us. He hasn't seen a real SEC stadium yet!

Weigh in.

It's going to be a different environment than they have ever played in. When the people in Neyland want to get loud, it can be deafening.

I don't think it's going to be as big of a deal as some (like you) are making it out to be

I will there screaming (and standing)................. I cant wait for this game. If we (the crowd) can stay loud I think it will affect the ducks.

Michigan is the only one that might compare. That said, I don't think it is going to phase Oregon as much as some people are thinking it will. Fans in Neyland can be quiet at times too.

I agree. The problem is getting all or most of the 103,000 to stand up and actually yell at something. Seriously if you don't want to stand up, and then complain about the other people in front of you standing up, sit your fat and lazy a$$ on the couch at home and have your wife bring you another doughnut! Give your ticket to some one who really cares!

Sadly I have to agree with Yankee Vol. UCLA came in and won with 100k+ on hand.

I believe Football is won and lost more on emotion than any other team sport, so the atmosphere does have an effect on opposing teams, especially those who haven't been here. But if Oregon is a better football team than UT, that effect will be muted after the first quarter. If Tennessee can hang in there until the 4th quarter the atmosphere can make the difference, but I just don't know yet if the talent is here. I hope it is, and I hope the rest of the world knows that next Sunday!

Devil's Advocate: There are players out there who thrive on audiences and crowds. Some even thrive on being in places where they are hated.

Discuss.

If this game is tied at the end of the 1st quarter it will get really loud and stay loud as long as its within 17 points. If they go up by 17 before the first half it would probably get pretty quiet. If the game is close going into the 4th quarter, Oregon's going to be hearing bells in the ears for the next 3 weeks.

You are right. We should all just sit down and be calm and eat some popcorn. That will fake them out. :eek:lol:

Honestly, you've got to love it as a UT fan when the opposing coach has no idea what he's getting into.

Why don"t you stay home. Then this pressure to call others names will be lifted from your shoulders.

I think the problem was the question was asked without any specific mentioning of crowd noise. Kelly's an idiot if he thinks the crowd noise is going to be a non-factor "because of Michigan" for example. But I suspect he's just talking about the general intimidation of getting out there in front of 100k - not how loud it might be.

Kelly is taking Neyland Stadium seriously.

They are practicing with noise levels similar to what they will hear on Saturday.
