No idea how this staff pans out but LOVE how they don't throw kids, and yes they are kids, under the bus!

ON HOW MUCH HE HAS ADAPTED HIS SCHEME TO THE PLAYERS AND HOW THAT MIGHT CHANGE WHEN UT BRINGS IN PLAYERS THIS STAFF RECRUITED

“We don’t necessarily worry about what we have to do in terms of getting the right guys in here. We feel like we have the right guys here already, and we’ve just got to continue to work and develop them, and hopefully some more guys will want to be a part of something special that we’re building here at UT.”

Coach the kids you have to make them the best they can be, no excuses. Love the mentality.

I love what he said. Builds trust with the players...................................buuuuuuuuut.

The old/PC saying, " It's not the arrow, it's the Native American" may be true, but some native americans had better, more efficient arrows. UT needs more modern arrows.

Absolutely a lot of truth to that and I'm sure all of their coaches know that as well. They just seem to be smart enough to not say it out loud. When nothing can come of it immediately you have to be a bonehead to say anything to destroy the moral of the guys you have. It's about the haves and not the have nots at the moment.

Racist in my opinion. Native Americans aren't the only one to use arrows.

Pruitt used to always say redneck crap like we need to get more better players
Didn't he say something like, " We need 25 of MY guys"?

Note: I must have been thinking of...
“I made them a promise, we have a few guys playing the right way and doing all the right things. I promise you I’ll recruit 25 other guys that will play the right way so we don’t have to play in another game like this,” Pruitt said.

Tennessee just needs more horses in the barn.

If the staff gets enough time and they stay together this group could be special.

A very BIG if..... If the staff coaches are as good as they seem to be, then keeping them will be a big and an expensive job. Besides, money may not be the factor for some of them. Career moves will drive most. If you are a staff coach and get the chance to move up to head coach or offensive or defensive coordinator, money may not be able to keep you on staff here.

It’s virtually impossible to keep a staff intact for many years in today’s game. If one of our assistants gets an offer as a HC, NFL or a big time playoff contender, then you can’t really blame them.

That's what I'm saying. Hipe and Ad will need to be able to replace with as good or better than they lose.

I think he is correct. We played with them for a bit, we just need more of them. Quality depth is our problem, the players we have are fine in my opinion.

More better defense on 3rd down is a must moving forward ! And I think they can get better.

Did anyone ask why his defense can’t get off the field on 3rd down seemingly ever
Be careful talking like that, people here will attack you for it. And please do not try to make a point about the depth isn't as big a deal some make it out to be. And do not question Heupel’s play calling.

I just found this quote from Garner about Banks. I think the quote above is coach speak and character. I am glad to have found it however, because I’m with you on this one.

"I think Coach Banks has done a remarkable job," Garner said. "He's a great leader. He's very smart. He's flexible. Obviously, he tries to cater what we're doing to what our talent level is and what we are capable of doing. He's open to suggestions. I think he's a really good leader. The kids believe in him, the staff believes in him, and he's a great guy to work with, just like this entire staff. I think that's that one thing Coach Heup has done, he's put together a group of remarkable men that right now get along well and work well together, good chemistry."

Hard to believe they are considering Banks for the Broyles award and we are having this conversation at the same time. A little easier after reading the article. Top 10 in TFL. Still, I don’t see that qualifying him when our D has struggled.
