This jersey and hat were worn by former Vol legend Alan Cockrell during the Independence Day game played on 7/4/2015. This Stars and Stripes Yankees jersey is extremely rare. I hope you enjoy the photos.......

Normally I wonder why these threads are allowed to stay in the FF, but I gotta admit that's pretty sweet.

I also make notice of whether the American flag is displayed appropriately on a uniform. Nice to see the yanks got it right. Surprising how often organizations get it wrong.

Not a matter of caring; however, I enjoy you sharing your collection.

Met him at all places, Pueblo Zoo. And I'm pretty sure it was Summer of 98. He was with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at the time and I believe he had already moved into coaching at that time.

He was very humble, I was wearing a Tennessee shirt and he asked me how I thought they would do that year. Then he introduced himself by name and was shocked when I asked if he played QB for Tennessee. His wife gushed on him with pride though.

He thanked me for serving in the Air Force as this was before I retired.

Great guy, friendly. Wife was pretty and very nice too.

1998 huh?, maybe I need to run into him again this Summer!

Had Cockrell not blown out his knee he would be in the conversation of the great Vol QBs. He was a mix of Shuler, Casey Clausen, and the Swamp Rat.

Alan was the first qb I remember playing for the Vols. Thanks for the pics, op. And I agree, he could've been regarded as one of the best had he not been injured.
