We went to Georgia last year and there was a hype guy yelling in a microphone that was blaring throughout speakers around the lower level seats. The stadium and fans are good, but that guy was really annoying. Columbia, Missouri is just boring. I'm about to go to the swamp for the first time this week.

Was dating a FL grad & sitting with her & her family in their season tix, 2001.

Things started going well for the Vols & I was cheering appropriaty--but respectfully--when my (what I thought would be my future) father in law suggested I should go watch the game with "my people."

Joined my parents in the Vols section & was done with her by the Sugar Bowl. So worth it.

Will be back there this week with the smoking hot MRS. Might just visit that section & see how he is doing.

08 UGA game, my wife's uncle is a Athens/Clarke County Public Defender and UGA grad. So for the full experience, he took us through the Quad (UGA version of The Grove/Walk of Champions.) A frat boy about my height but much fatter than I got up in face barking. I could smell the cigarettes and alcohol on his breath. During the game, we had peanuts and Coke bottle caps thrown at us. Everytime we cheered, a "gentlemen" in his late 40's early 50's in front of us would slowly stand up, turn around and stare at us for a few seconds before sitting back down.

Questions about Kentucky. My wife and I are planning on going this year. Are tickets easily scalped up there and where is the best place to park. Also, any other info greatly appreciated.

I stayed at a hotel in Lexington walking distance from Commonwealth when I went back in 07. It's a pretty good environment. I was at the game that went to several overtimes after we blocked their 4th quarter field goal.

Obviously the fans thought they were going to end the streak that night so they were ready to rush the field. I was afraid i was gonna get trampled. Overall though aside from a few rednecks it was a good experience. One lady a few seats down from me made an obnoxious comment and when I gave her a look she said "give us a break, we've sucked so long I'm just happy we're keeping it close". I laughed at that one so she got a pass.

Sometimes there is no sweeter smell than that of a burnt bridge!

I heard she married an ARKANSAS fan.

I've never had a bad experience tailgating with Gator fans from North of Orange county.

Usually, there is an inverse relationship between the amount of hair product used by the male fans and awareness of Gator football before 1995. The chill factor slides evenly along those two key axes.

To determine same, I usually look to see if they look like they own stock in Vidal Sassoon, then ask them if they know who Kerwin Bell is.

Never fails to weed out the unbearable.

goes both ways -- at a ut - uf basketball game i asked the partying hard ut fans after the game was over why there wasnt a tee martin way or tee martin street...

The girl said "who?"

"You know the qb of the UT 98 national championship team.

ohh that was peyton manning -- heh

true story

Most of these younger "fans" dont really know the history of their programs...

FWIW, the street is named Tee Martin Drive

Every year its the same complaining by Vols fans about Gator visits, but if you read the posts carefully you almost always see at least mutual antagonism by the Vol fan, sometimes worse.

My advice is to smile throughout and avoid the drunks. Pretty standard anywhere you go. Doesn't hurt you that expectations are so low in Gainesville this year that if you win no one is going to be all that surprised.

You're part of the putrid sexually transmitted disease of a fan base....we don't believe a urine throwing word you say

Not sure where all of the insanity has happened, but back in the 80's and 90's, me and my friends would always, and I mean always find a group of Vols partying on Friday night and buy them a round. Almost always received the round back with dividends. UF has a fair share of redneck fans and power drinker fans, much like anywhere else. It is probably worth a mention that the ONLY time I have ever been threatened was going to the 1991 Tenn vs Vandy game. I was on an internship at Oak Ridge National Lab then and had always wanted to go to Neyland and that team had guys like Carl Pickens and Dale Carter. I made the mistake of wearing a Gator hat to the stadium....so....there are some in every crowd.

Well, not a VOL story, but I was at a Raiders game years ago , sitting near the end zone with the crazies when some yahoo stated cussing a storm up. The guy behind him said that his wife was with him and could he please tone it down. Mr. Potty Mouth, without turning around, told the dude to "Make me". The dude with his wife stood up and was at least 6 ft. 5 and dressed like a deranged Viking. He picked up Mr. Potty Mouth lifted him over his head and THREW HIM over the railing down onto the field, like he was chucking a basketball. Ouch! Cops drug him away, and we all bought the guy beers, halfway out of respect, halfway out of fear.

Not really a horror story, but we just drove over to see the stadium and got a couple birds thrown our way, along with some choice words. Good start.

Legion Field Night game 1997 Had two Elvis impersonators ( knew them from radio business I was in at the time) watch my son while I went to concessions stand. Guy pulled out a switch blade and stabbed someone 20' away from me

I have been to over 125 road games and have never had one bad experience if you exclude frat boys trying to curse under the influence. Closest I came was Miami at the Orange Bowl in 2003,the good residents of the projects next door weren't there after the game as they'd promised us to kick our asses.Good times.

Had a car and driver out front ready to go at drop of hat for that one ..walked through that neighborhood one time for an orange bowl which prompted the driver and car acquisition for the game .. That was a great game

2003 in the swamp. I was there with my brother in law and my 11 yr old nephew. Me and the nephew were on our way to the concession stand and an ******* threw a cup of tobacco spit at us. A little bit got on me but it covered my nephews face. I stepped up the stands and the guy stood up to me as i got to him. I hit him in the nose sending him down the steps face forward. His buddy jumped up and i dislocated his jaw. I was then grabbed by security and other fans. They took me to the lower bowels of the swamp and put me in a small concrete block room. The cops asked me if i wanted to press charges and told me the other gentleman would not do so if i didn't. I of course did not and they escorted me to the gates and banned me from the campus and stadium.

pic or gtfo

I've shared this story many times so I won't go into it all again, but when I was at the Florida game in 2001, all of their fans were very friendly and courteous. Even had a group of Gator fans buy us a pitcher after the game to congratulate us.
The next year I had an awful experience in Athens when someone threw a full beer can at our moving vehicle.
