Will be my first trip for a game ( my brother is getting his PHD down there) they know he is a Tennessee fan so there is the trash talk back and forth but that's also from masters and PHD students. He said he has never had any trouble out of the frat boys but he is also 6'4 285 and is solid as a brick house.

First time going back to Athens for a game since 2006. Last time I was there I had beer poured on me by a UGA fan. Most impressive part about this feat is that I was only 11 and the person that did it wasn't a student, it was a grown man in a private box. Still, I'd do it all again if it means we get a blowout W on Saturday.

I assume you will be showing your colors. Orange? If so, stay the hell away from Milledge Avenue between Broad and Lumpkin. You're better off parking on the East side of campus, somewhere near the river.

Of course I'll be in orange. As well most of the guys going with me. Not worried ab UGA fans giving us hell, that's part of it.

I always stay at Holiday Inn just off campus so I only tailgate around there. I'm no help here.

Their downtown is neat. a lot of bars. porterhouse is good but make a reservation asap. make reservations. walkins are tough to come by.

I go to more road games than home. Being a road fan is fun. don't take anything personally. I've never had a grown man bark at me.

I've had a florida fan wave a blue dildo at me though. that was weird.

their traditions are pretty cool too. I think you'll have a good time.
We gotta house a few mins from campus. AirBnB is the bomb man.

Yeah the barking is kinda weird. Never had that happen but ive never been to Athens. Those idiots don't bark when they come to Knoxville. Lol.

Can't wait to check out all the bars. Everyone says it's a good town.

Going to my first road game this weekend. Headed down Friday afternoon. Basically looking for any and all info regarding Athens from everyones experiences.

How are road games?

Who has been to Athens? I've heard great things about the town itself.

Maybe some good spots to have some cold beverages and food?

Tailgate spots?

Who's going behind enemy lines this weekend!?

GO VOLS!

Road Games: So much fun. I love going into someone else's house, screaming Rocky Top, and sticking out like a sore thumb in our Orange.

Athens: Athens is a great college town. My best friend is a video guy for UGA FB, and he has shown me around the town. Campus is really pretty.

Food: Just like our campus, anywhere near UGA's campus has food original to the restaurant itself. Try around!

Tailgate Spots: Unsure about this.

I'm going to the game. I'm sitting in a Tennessee lower level section (144). I will say if you're in a crowd of UGA fans, don't mouth off to them. Let them talk, and don't respond, and you'll be good. Go Vols!:good!:

It's not that bad, I've been to every school in the SEC except A&M and Mizz. When you go on the road as a fan a lot depends on your attitude. If your too timid when fans get on you it will steamroll, and they will really pile on. If your take everything as an insult and try to fight everybody your going to end up kicked out, or end up in jail before the game starts. It really can be a predator prey mentality. Try to have some fun, if somebody barks at you yell "Go Vols!". There are sh** fans everywhere, just ingnore them and have fun. I.ve always loved road games, always had more fun, and took pride in representing the Vols.:good!:

This guy gets it. I've had Vol fans throw bottles at my boat trying to tie up in Knoxville, until we we starting spraying them with water. A holes abound every where . Be confident but respectful away from home and you will find mutual respect and intelligent competition. Athens is honestly the 2nd best city in Georgia behind St Simons .

Last Resort is an institution. The new rooftop bar at Georgia Theater is fantastic and if you have the time, see a band. The place is known for them.

I got hit in the back with a dip cup after the win in 2006... Classy move. The pants washed out, the score remained.

I'd add Nowhere Bar to the list.

Nothing like a dive with pool tables and heavy pours.

GO VOLS!

Drugs, booze, women, parties, and the gosh darn Drive By Truckers.
Athens summed up in fewer than 15 words.

Yes, but thirty minutes after you eat it....you will clear out a big area..and I'm not talking about your breath....:eek:lol:

The Varsity slogan is:
You don't buy our food, you just rent it!

Just don't forget to tell them to hold the spit.
