Avery Mills Joins Lady Vols

Welcome to Rocky Top Avery! We hope all your Lady Vol dreams come true!
I had forgotten that Avery scored 19 points against us when she was a freshman at Liberty with 3 of 5 from the 3 point line. It’s not like she hasn’t played in any big games. I hope she does well and succeeds beyond some of our expectations.

And there was one!! Let us not judge the young lady too harshly. We also need to not judge CKC and allow her recruitment to finish. I for one, want to see CKC put this team together. In reality, history will tell the true outcome.
Its actually not much different from last year we started with 8 new players, 5 were freshman and 1 of them was a ETSU type player, 1 was pretty good 3 shooter but afraid to shoot and a little slow on D, Civil was the best all around freshman.. The 3 portals were 1 a total miss 1 worked hard but was up and down and the other was on her 3rd team and a good player that was way up & way down & a negative vibe leader IMO. So I don't see much difference. We were starting from scrap basically last year with 1 good player that played with instinct and was not a smart Basketball IQ player or team leader. Ruby left and so did Zee her body was here but she'd already left the building the others were pedestrian. I dont see it much different just go after 2&3 year playing experience and hope they have a good chemistry. This years team never jelled at all. I wouldnt want many freshman with our OOC schedule and our tough conference schedule you need college players with experience. Let somebody else get them through their freshman year then buy them in the portal. Especially if you have freshman and your upper class is low IQ basketball leaders that's a bad recipe.

Who would judge her harshly?
Some of us are 5-star struck, however, several mid-major players have survived quite well at the Power-4 level, I believe that Avery will be one of them. If CKC picks wisely she can have the makings of a good team. Set us hope she learned something from this past year's experience. Will the team be SEC-ready, we will not know until they hit the floor. Starting an SEC team from scratch is gonna be dicey. However, since we are in our particular situation we have to wait and see and not prejudge. Yes, we all have our doubts, but again history will tell the true story.

Of course, Cooper scored 33.

Yeah the roster has two names. No one should be judging anyone who signs on this spring or summer harshly. Not that that will stop some people.

Far better to be grateful we've got players willing to step into what appears to be the eye of a hurricane.

Amen! I’m gonna love them all, and I will be cheering for them like no other team before them. They’re already proving they’ve got guts. Gotta love that! 🧡

Fantastic start. Great offensive rating, almost 30 points ahead of her team's overall offensive rating. That's exactly what you'd expect an SEC-caliber player to do in a mid-major conference. And as others have said, it's the same hoop, same ball, and the same perimeter, so I'd say there's good hope for her game transitioning just fine to the next level as a range shooter.

I see. However, I think any criticism is directed at CKC (unless you work for 99.1), not the players. Elite players won’t want to be a part of this. Players from schools like Liberty can end up being good, but getting a whole roster of these players would be a problem, but the players shouldn’t get heat for it.
