Tennessee, FSU, and Clemson show you that recruiting rankings aren’t everything. Of course you have better odds of winning more with the better classes you get but the rankings aren’t the end all be all. Clemson didn’t have a top 5 class in any of those years yet they’ve won 2 of the last 3 championships. Player development, synergy, competition, attrition, and so much more goes into the equation.

Player development=good coaching, now that is a balanced equation!

That is woeful under performance. Shows that UT got the horses to be at least middle of the pack SEC but failed to coach them up or deliver on the field. Essentially, our coaches did LESS with MORE, while other programs like Clemson and SCar did MORE with LESS and Vandy did SAME with LESS.

On any given player or even a single class, stars are not clear indications of success (witness the class of '17). But you had better believe that over a decade, recruiting more stars generally equates to more wins - the key is actually being able to coach them - and the evidence is clear that has been an issue.

Right now we are 11th in the SEC for 2020 recruiting class rank. That doesn't cut it.

I am expecting the current number to fall somewhere between 20 and 25, before it is all over (if we are lucky). I believe the GA game is going to have an impact, but it is only an opinion, as something like that almost impossible to measure.

Poor coaching no development of players is the problem. Apologists will say recruiting services are crap and never get it right, I guess they only get it right on bama recruits.

Coching, motivation, chemistry and other psychological factors are just as important as highly recruited players. Non-stop motors can't be taught as it is an inherently individual thing. IMO good character and toughness are also very important. Sure, I firmly do believe that the gifted athlete wins championship but give me a 3-star or low 4-star with those characteristics everyday of the week over an undisciplined, pampered, lazy uber talented player.

Tennessee is rapidly becoming the Bermuda Triangle of college football players, a black hole where starred players disappear, never to heard from again.

Looks about right. Doing less with more it’s become the Tennessee way.

Lol but somehow we need even more just to think about winning........go figure.

Tennessee’s recruiting rankings are completely irrelevant. There has been way too much roster turnover and way too much coaching turnover for that to mean anything.
They don’t have any talent on that roster. That’s a fact

I heard if we're around top 10 in recruiting for the next 2 years we may be able to beat Ga St. MAYBE. If not, it will still be because the players suck and the coaches need more time to get rid of Butchs recruits

I think player evaluation is the most important aspect of recruiting.

WOW-Hello, I guess when all those posters (you know the boy butch lovers) swooning over boy butch, posted constantly, he was a SUPER DUPER Recruiter, all of that was completely irrelevant.

I take it you mean by the coaching staff? You can have a 5* kid that would be phenomenal at school A but not so good at school B due to not being a fit. Is that what you mean or is there something else?
