Under this scenario, it appears he did a great job if the team did great "after" he built it and left to build another team. From all accounts the guy is really good at his job, and I believe UT could benefit by hiring him. I think Charlie High currently has the "GM" title at UT.Not quite sure why the hype around him is so big:
Left Knoxville with Lane for USC just to struggle for three years.
Then went to LSU for the disastrous end of the Les Miles era.
Leaves LSU and LSU wins the national championship.
Goes to A&M where they sign the historically worst #1 recruiting class of all time. Then to Dave Aranda's Baylor, struggles.
Then to Ole Miss and the year after he leaves they have the best season in program history.
And finally back to LSU for two difficult years resulting in a coach getting fired.
Don't quite understand why you would want this guy as the guy.
Different era of college football. The teams who succeeded after he left all were portal heavy teams (LSU and Ole Miss) who were two plus years removed from his departure.Under this scenario, it appears he did a great job if the team did great "after" he built it and left to build another team. UT has a GM he just doesn't have GM title but it is the role he plays. Its Billy High..John Brice is reporting that Austin Thomas is not staying on at LSU with Kiffin. There's been a lot of talk about if/when UT add an official GM role to the staff. If that's something they're going to actually do, this would be the time to do it and bring him back.
His recruiting results are fine. The coaches have to get the most out of the talent. We were absolutely abysmal with Pruitt here, yet with those same players we were competitive in a couple years with Heupel. It’s not all about talentNot quite sure why the hype around him is so big:

What's his title? And what's a college GM do?
Wasn't there some riff here on something he said?..Several posts I've seen aren't saying much nice things about him. LolNot quite sure why the hype around him is so big:

You make him sound like the Flying Dutchman. Not quite sure why the hype around him is so big:
