Actually, I don't really know much about him, so your comment is fairly funny to me.
Coaches and staff come and go.... its a team effort (including recruiting). I would expect a few additional changes after the bowl game, same as it ever was. LSU has had 3 defensive coordinators and 3 offensive coordinators, and 2 head coaches (including the interim) in less then 3 years.
You know it's ok to say, 'damn I hate we're losing him, nice pick up UT' instead of acting like you almost never heard of him before...
That's what's "fairly funny" to me..
I don't know him, I don't know much about him. As far as him that I do know - he is well thought of at LSU... that is basically it. As far as coaching and staff... they come and go. I seriously doubt anyone is going to be burning mattresses. The much much more important coach and staff issue is whether Canada will be back and if not, who his replacement will be especially with signing starting.
Crazy fans seem to think its the end of the world or it's heavenly.... usually neither. Coaches and staff come and go... as a UT fan you should be well versed in that by now. LSU announced Grimes to BYU for OC last night, new OL coach announced this morning. There will be more, just like last year, or the year before, etc.
Thomas sounds like they really liked him, but lots of people LSU they like... very few people stay 20 years in any of these positions anymore.
Forgive me if I came off in condescending way. Also, I never meant that he was worthy of burning your Sealy Posturpedic (I will never understand why 'fans' get that upset).. There are staff members you do hate to lose (you mentioned Canada) and that's what I was referring to..
There are also some you can't wait to get rid of (Butch)..![]()
All in good fun. :hi:
I really don't know much about him... all I really know is he is liked at LSU and it sounds like Tennessee got a very good hire. Not sure he will be recruiting at UT, I believe LSU had to get a waiver for that to happen - not sure on the details of that.
Good hire from what I am told. Now all the talk about Steele the last month on the forum - he is doing well at Auburn but very glad he isn't in Baton Rouge anymore.
One man's trash, is another man's treasure - or something like that.

I think I heard on the radio this morning he is originally from Knoxville. Do you know if that's true? I knew he had gone to school at UT but not that he was from the area..
Massive addition for this staff. LSU fought hard to keep him. I have family that live near NO and are LSU fans, and they are not very pleased. They "can't understand" why he would leave for UT. This is a huge loss for LSU. He placed his signature on all parts of their program, especially recruiting. This staff just keeps getting more and more stacked.
