Austin Smith is out for the game.

Actually, I want Butch to succeed. Who really wants to go through another coaching search? But that's the thing, he needs to succeed. I'm not hoping for failure, but I'm not willing to make excuses for failure either.

And personally, what I find annoying is when people result to attacking and namecalling rather than actual discussion. It makes them look like a dumbass.

(FYI... You put yourself in that position instead of making a rational argument of disagreement.)

Precisely what name did I call you?

Pointing out the fact that you are attacking prematurely is the definition of a rational argument.

We still have QUART'E SAPP, DILLON BATES, CORTEZ MCDOWELL, SHANON REID, WILL IGNONT, DANIEL BITULI, SOLON PAGE III, ELLIOTT BERRY, COLTON JUMPER. While it sucks to lose a player to another knee injury, but surely some of these guys that were highly touted coming out of high school can step in and fill the gaps and make a difference.
Best guess by the end of season, 3 LB's listed above will be banged up and not playing. Going to get thin, hope I'm wrong.

Maybe you should reread the post I was responding to since you seem to be attributing a much different meaning to the post than the actual content conveys.

I read it. That still doesn't mean I was claiming what you're expecting me to defend. For the record, I'm of the opinion that we can't really know whether the injuries are a result of Jones' coaching/training regime or not.

So, with that out in the open, why would you expect me to defend the strawman you posted?

You have a poor understanding of the definition of "strawman argument" to go along with your seemingly selective reading comprehension abilities.

I hope Sapp is able to play...he had a pretty severe knee injury last year...sometimes it takes longer to come back

I know it sounds hateful but i can't wait for Jumper to graduate. In year 5 its unacceptable for him to be our starting MLB. Name another top 15 program he would start at. We need to put our talent on the field.

Sapp
Bituli
Mcdowell

Thats who should line up for us tommorow. Have Bates/Berry ready to sub to spell the starters.

Well, hes currently playing his second junior season in a row. He may be still listed as a senior in the depth chart but dont let that fool ya. They are giving him a redo.

He went from junior to senior, back to junior. Now hell be a senior again next year. Unless they let him be a junior again.

Wut?

More likely caused by a pack of sad faced fans who constantly try and undermine Coach Jones and his efforts to resurrect our once proud football team

Are you being facetious?

Or do you truly believe negative fans have impacted Jones ability to put SEC quality linebackers on the field?

Surely no level-headed, well adjusted, otherwise normal human could promote such a casuistry as truth.

I'm genuine in my concern.

There are accidents that happen on the field, but we are talking 22 players injuries last year and now 4 before the first game. There is a deeper issue.

And the two years before last year they had many more August injuries. Injuries were not particularly high this fall camp.

These two LB injuries are NOT the issue. The issue is if they do not have the depth in year 5 to replace them. EVERY defense of Jones starts with "look at his great recruiting". We now see if the foundation of all reasons to "give him more time" will stand. Has he earned the $15+ million he's been played or not? If he cannot replace two LB's at different positions then the answer is NO.

Everything i said is factual. He was a junior last year and will be a junior this year.

He was awarded an extra season to play. Given a retroactive redshirt this year for 2014.

Last i saw he was still listed as a senior, but hes not.

Kinda ironic i think.

Rock needs some time. Cannot expect any S&C coach to make a program instantly better. We need to at least give him a year or 2.

Um. No. He appears to have made a positive impact on injuries in August. We'll see how the season goes. But if S&C was the problem then the impact of change should be apparent very early. Hopefully it will continue to improve but there should be visible improvement THIS YEAR.

Bama had 4 LBs injuried in the FSU game...two are out for the year...it's a tough sport

And they'll probably replace them with quality players. That's the question for UT and Jones. Does UT have quality players to step in and step up? If not, why not after 5 full recruiting cycles?

What are you talking about? I've heard in several coach interviews Hoke mention Quay and Alexis "coming along"

You're correct I over exaggerated.

Johnson, Picou and Wiggins are all dealing with nagging injuries. Bituli and Sapp are coming off injuries.

I believe we had six 4 star players at LB going into this season and we've lost 1 for the season. Smith was a 3 star but apparently worked out better than his ranking. But we have five remaining 4 star players. Hopefully we will find a great combination.

I really like Sapp and I'm cautiously optimistic that he will be able to play at his full potential this year. Likewise, I think Bituiti (or however he spells his name) could be a star.

I'm not going to read too much into the GT game as far as who plays LB because of Techs offense...

While I'm usually optimistic, I'm stating wonder why we continue to have injuries across the board?

I mean what kind of "practices" does Butch run?

Did Butch have a history of injuries when he was at Cincinnati as well?

It's either hangover from s&c or the drills we are running at practice.....dunno....4years in row tells me it's practice routine...how come it's always the starters never the scout team.....good Lord start running the scout team routine for the two deep lol

My point is that through 3 S&C coaches this has been problem for four years. I'm cautious on how much I put on sc. For knee injuries....shoulder ones I see because maybe they damage them by poor form and routines or lack of muscle in shoulders period.... but knee issues idk....i bet we had about 8 plus over past 3years all with starters or two deep

Thought I would post this reaction to Alabama losing two linebackers for the season and two more for some period of time. This is from Alabama.com, the local newsrag, or at least it used to be. And one of the replacements is potentially a walk on.

"With those two out, Alabama will likely be more dependent on former walk-on Jamey Mosley, who is listed as a co-backup at Jack linebacker, as well as young players like freshman Chris Allen, who has impressed people inside the program since enrolling in May.

It's also possible the Tide could use some of its inside linebackers outside more as Evans, sophomore Mack Wilson and freshman Dylan Moses are all versatile and capable of playing both inside and outside. That could in turn create more opportunities inside for Keith Holcombe who recovered a fumble Saturday night.

Regardless, though, this is a big blow."

So their fans will use it as an excuse to lose to a couple of 5 win teams this season?
