Austin Smith is out for the game.

You know practice contact is like a game right. I mean they're not out their in tutu's during practice.

You been in some Blue Moon tonight?

CBJ admitted last year that he took it easy in practice to avoid injuries and it showed during the game.
Im not sure why he cant manage a team to avoid massive injuries, but he cant.

No blue moon, long run in the morning.

So can anyone tell me what the staff was doing at practice that allows an injury to a player in an already thin position group several days before the first game? Numbnutz

End of the day, Butch is head coach and everything falls on his shoulders. It's called responsibility. It's his job to lead this team. Injuries are not an excuse to be used to protect him. Someone gets hurt, we should have the depth to carry on. A true leader accepts this responsibility and doesn't make excuses for failure.

Year 5 and we still don't have enough quality depth to weather even one injury at most positions. That lack of developing the depth that is being recruited, is definitely on Butch and the staff he has chosen to hire.

How do you know we don't have the quality depth before we've even played a game? Are you an all powerful, omnicient being or should you just shut up and watch the game on Monday?

I thought everyone on here would be ecstatic because this means Danial Bituli will get to likely start at the strongside LB spot. As bad as people wanted Bituli to play when Kirkland went down, he must be the mightest LB in all the land.

Nope. Jumper moving to SAM and Bates to start at Mike

Enough panic. Time to nut up and play some football.

This is exactly what coaches will be stressing to our team and fanbase!

Then they will huddle around together and talk about how the sky is falling.

We don't know if that statement is true or not at this point. Every year is different, everybody has injuries. Last year we had a ton, it's way to early to say if we have the depth to get it done this year or not. I will wait for the games before I wave the white flag like some on here. GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!

You don't get that contract if your body is shot before you get there. The college education line is ridiculous since that won't go away with an injury

Well you can't get there without putting in the practice and hitting either so what is your point???? You don't think Alabama hits during practice???? GBO!!!!!

You're right. We won't know the truth until the game is played. But, in year 5, depth should no longer be an acceptable excuse. Some on here are obviously preparing to use it as one.

Stop. You have no idea what you're talking about. Go back to Matlock re-runs.

Players used to practice 2 a days in the summer sometime 3 a days. Bottom line is you have to practice and get used to hitting, if you didn't practice and went straight to games and hitting you would see more injuries and folks not in good shape until mid season. Of course it's a balancing act, but sometimes injuries just happen and folks need to accept that they are and always will be apart of the game. It's a tough sport and that's why you need depth. GBO!!!!!

4 seasons' worth of film and stats is enough to know that CBJ has had difficulty developing talent.

These injuries are just part of the game all teams have them. I believe we lost about 52 starts last year, highest in the NCAA. I don't believe it is a coaching issue or S&C, just bad luck. I remember Fulmer having a similar season during his run when we had great coaches etc.. We don't have a lot of injuries at this point but having two in one position group that is not that deep hurts. Especially facing a running team that has taken special preparation. With no time left to prep more backups we just have to suck it up and move forward. Some guys will play way more than they thought.

This sucks. We're going to be a skeleton crew by November again, at this rate.

Maybe we'll beat Florida and ruin Georgia's season before everyone else gets injured

You hear any reasons why this lineup was picked LW? Crazy Ivan had a good point in the RF.

That combination probably has looked the best defending against the scout team emulating GT. They are both smart guys and may be the ones not being tricked by the eye candy and not getting out of position. I am excited to see the healthy Bates.

Kendal Vickers - 2 star recruit
Josh Smith - 2 star recruit
Malik Foreman - 2 star recruit
Brett Kendrick - 2 star recruit
Cam Sutton - 3 star recruit
Corey Vereen - 3 sar recruit
Emmanuel Moseley - 3 star recruit
Coleman Thomas - 3 star recruit
Jashon Robertson - 3 star recruit
John Kelly - 3 star recruit

Just to name a few...

Some names in there that are either in the NFL or heavily relied on. Then you have guys like Jennings who played QB in high school that has moved to WR and developed pretty darn good. Where do you get players are not developed?
