Austin Rogers torn ACL

Thought AR was a bit on the below average side, but still hate to see him get injured. Opens up a door for other WRs

that sux for him, good thing 4 him is he'll get redshirted, and nxt yr he'll have a qb that can prolly get the ball to him unlike crompton

just saw the news on espn.com. really sucks for him. hopefully the NCAA will grant him a 6th year of eligibility.

I cannot believe that some of you are bashing a player that has shed blood, sweat, and tears for your so called beloved UT. It's is a disgrace to hear fans of any school belittle or question the talent of players that have just injured themselves fighting for YOUR school. Crazy, I bet none of you critizing him have been apart of any team at the collegiate level. You couldnt understand the work and commitment it takes to succeed at that level. Some of you should be ashamed.

I hope that he makes a speedy recovery and God bless to him and his family.

No doubt that UT has some bright and also classy fans.

Austin Rogers is one of those quite leaders who let's his play do the talking. I watched him in high school at Lipscomb. He strikes me as the kind of solid guy that will overcome this devestating blow and teach all about courage. He will demonstrate what it means to be a studen athelete in every sense of the word. good luck young man. I look forward to the movie after your spectacular comeback!:)

I read about his injury on Chris Low's blog. Just wanted to tell you guys I'm sorry to see him suffer that injury. I hate to see any player get hit with a serious injury, no matter who they play for. It's just so heartbreaking for the players that get hurt. I hope he recovers well, bounces back and gets cleared for an extra season of eligibility. Best wishes to him.

I have nothing against it. Just think he would be wasting a lot of hard work to get a 6th year in which he would be used very infrequently.

KInda of like playing what if's that usually hapen to some degree. You have a veteran, better than average SEC receiver. Tough, works hard, good character, good for team, would be good mentor, even if he gets limited playing time. Dependable hands most of time even if not able to break big runs. So, on the infrequent playing time he does get, he makes the plays that keeps us in the games with chances to win and it's those small contributions from infrequent players that's makes a good season a good season.

Play the "what if" all you want.

Mine would certainly not play out like the one you just proposed. I do love though talking about talent and people hyping up the "good character, good for team, works hard, good mentor" angles.

Actually, those angles are quite important. Offsets the impressions the thug players leave on the incoming talent.

1) How close are you with AR? Since you know his character and all?
2) Impressions of thug players has what to do with wins?

1) Never met him. Know where he came from and how he was likely raised, so without anything derrogatory knowledge of him, can only credit him unless shown otherwise.

2) Thug players being your role models creates more thug players, all of whom will likely exit school early, so you end up with less skilled players getting thrown in before they are ready. Just a hunch, see recent trends in UT football.

Wonderful. You've never met him yet know how much of a value his non-football skills are to the team.

Again, never met him but his need to mitigate the thugs on the team is vital. Fantastic.

Sorry to hear any player getting hurt. Whether the kid is on the bench, average or a star. We certainly can use all the help we can get.

you've met him? you know his off field attributes are non existent? or are you assuming?

The part that angers me the most is that we have talented kids that throw it all away getting involved with off the field altercations, then we have kids with a lot of heart like Austin who have something like this happen to them. I hope the best for him and hope that the WRs use his situation as inspiration and motivation to overachieve and tap into their potential and then some.

austin is easily our hardest working receiver for the past two years. He plays fearlessly and is fun to watch. He always gets his number called on those in and out routes knowing he would be crushed after a 5 yard gain lol. He will be missed

He was the toughest WR on the team, his hands could be tough as stone at times but I hope he can get a 6th year. Players rally around players like him. :beerf:
