Yes, Malzhan and Peterson have better resumes than Franklin.
Well let’s see
Gus- last 5 years 0 11 win seasons has had 1 12 win season 8 years ago, fired from Auburn.
Petersen- 1 12 year season 5 years ago, retired, isn’t coming out of retirement.

So...I realize my question was difficult, but, the answer is no, there is no one that would consider this job that has had at least 3- 11 win seasons in the last 5. Thanks for trying to play but instructions matter.

Franklin makes me a little unsettled. I guess because of the whole Vandy situation followed by the whole rape ordeal.

Definitely not interested in Sonny Dykes ....

White is using the media to feed us BS. Sonny Dykes gets mentioned a lot because it brings attention to his name and that in turn helps DW's sister who's AD at SMU. Plus you can bank on him having a team in place to monitor all social media outlets just to gauge interest.

Integrity is going to play into this hire and I'm not too sure that's a good word to be slinging around these parts at present due to the last 5 years if not longer. If I'm going to war I'd rather have a man seeking redemption by my side than one that has integrity. A man with integrity may ask DW to just drive a Brink's truck up to his door if you want him to coach this mess.

Petrino, Kiffin... I am comfortable with that level of scum.

Art Briles, James Franklin... That's above what I can take. If someone preaches integrity to my face while hiring James Franklin, then the words aren't just disingenuous. They are flat-out lies.

Good Grief, what are we doing here, hiring a football coach or a spiritual leader that can walk on water?

Many of these coaches being talked about are not that different than Pruitt, or any of the Alabama Staff that happened to be associated with the some of the best football talent in the country, donald duck could have looked good as DC or OC and I think that Clemson is the same thing.

Franklin actually has a successful record of building and rebuilding with wins to prove it, as do some of the other coaches.

Franklin is overrated and about to be fired at Penn St not to mention being involved in TWO different sexual assault scandals

Does Franklin even want out at Penn State? It would seem that going from there to UT would be somewhat of a lateral move. I wasn't aware that he was looking to go somewhere else.

I don't like Franklin, never have and really don't want him as the next HC at UT. That said, regarding these stories; the first story, on its face, sounds ridiculous and reeks of a butt hurt player. Not to mention basically the whole damn team refuted Humphries claims.

The second story, first, Franklin has never been seriously looked at by law enforcement or the DA for any wrong doing in that case. Second, I read somewhere (don't remember so don't ask) that the whole story of wrong doing on Franklin's part was a concoction by the defense attorney to blame bigger fish so as to turn the blow torch away from their guilty as hell clients..

Who knows what's true and what isn't. What I do know is, accusations don't equate to guilt no matter how much I might dislike a person.

Finally, IMO, all the Franklin talk is smokescreen. He won't be UT's HC.

While I don't care for Franklin for his antics at Vandy, he's a very good coach. He was not covering up rape in any way. He simply would not have the Penn State job if that as the case. The DA expressedly said that he in no way impeded the investigation or did anything inappropriate. I have no idea why this fan base tars and feathers people with off the field allegations of that nature so often. View attachment 343790

Sad isn’t it... Not surprised at this point.. SMDH.. Just wait until AD White introduces this new coach. Ha! 🙄

You don't need a Franklin,Dykes, or anyone who hasn't coached on a national title team nor hasn't turned a program around recently (that people didn't think could be turned around)....hire Campbell,Fleck or Elliot or just make Steele the head coach for this year because if White screws up this hire and hires a coach for 5-7 yrs and he doesn't produce results that would include playing for the SEC title game, well then the program is gonna be in worse shape than it is now ... pffff

Most of us "reasonable" Vol fans aren't even thinking about SEC championships right now. We just want to start consistently beating the teams we are supposed to beat and go bowling every year. To me, that is "Step 1" progress the new coach has to show. Granted, we may not be going bowling this year (or next) anyway due to sanctions but we have to see progress. We have to see improvement. And no more of this "well it may not be showing up on the field right now be we're getting better" nonsense! I'm no longer buying that! If we can't SEE it on the field, it ain't getting better!

I haven't read the PSU case, but I'm not seeing where Franklin did anything illegal or even unethical in the Vandy case.

I followed the Vandy rape trial. Testimony indicated JF most likely knew of the rape before police did. JF told the team something along the lines “we’ve gotta be tight” meaning they need to stay quiet. He offered the victim a job in the program, again, before the rape was discovered. I’m not saying he saw the rape videos but I’d think it would be very unlikely he didn’t know something went down bad before the police started asking him.

The Nashville DA made the decision to concentrate on prosecuting those 4 players who conducted the act. He did very little to those players who knew of the rape & didn’t report it.

Very important thing Danny White is doing, bring these guys with him from UCF...According to a report from John Brice of Footballscoop.com on Friday morning, Chris McFarlane and Cam Walker will join White in Knoxville. McFarlane served as UCF’s Deputy Athletics Director for Competitive Excellence, while Walker served as UCF’s Executive Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.

He is gonna need them here unfortunately.

Parker search firm has reached out to Luke Fickel and James Franklin in addition to the names mentioned here. He said Franklin was more realistic than Fickel. They talked about Tony Elliot and mentioned Sonny Dykes.

Hubbs said he thinks Parker has reached out to a number of sitting coaches at P5 schools to gauge interest but he doesn't know how much interest was returned. They both admitted with White being so unfamiliar to everyone that not much was coming from the Knoxville side of things right now.

So... Austin Price says “🤷🏻‍♂️

Pretty familiar theme among the sportswriters!
