Folks in Memphis are saying UT was never a consideration. I'm not just talking about UOM folks. Frankly UT is still not being looked at very favorably down here. There has not been a Barnes effect as of yet.

Then what was the purpose of restricting Tennessee? And Nichols was very high on UT previously, not saying he ends up here, but he's not your typical Memphis kid, clearly.

First UT fans were mad that Memphis wouldn't let him go. Now, UT fans all agree he's going to UVA. What have I missed? If you knew he was wanting to go to UVA, why make a big fuss about it?

Not surprisingly but hearing that Tennessee definitely interested and also hearing that Rick Barnes has already reached out to the family since the news of his release broke. Obviously he's going to be a hot commodity.

Not just with Nichols, this situation just spurred the question. Are transfers able to visit, or in this case revisit on the schools dime? Or is that on the player?

I may be wrong, but I believe a recruit is entitled to 5 official visits in their career, so if as a HS recruit you use all 5 OV's you're done. If you use 3 OV's and decide to transfer I believe you have 2 to use, but I definitely could be mistaken.

They restricted him because of how much the UOM folks can't stand UT. They puff out their chests and secretly envy UT.

This is the part where they name all UT fans hillbillies and brag about their not one, but two vacated Final Four appearances. We should be very jealous of their success.

Barnes left this scholarship spot open. Let's see if Nichols will fill it. Will be a preliminary test of A) does Nichols feel a real connection to UT and right the wrong and B) Can Barnes beat out UK, Duke and UVA for the kid. Where ever he goes I wish him luck.
