whats the deal with him? I looked on Scout.com, and there are already kids that are 4-stars. But, Austin Johnson is only rated a 2-star. Im not sure but didn't HV say this kid was gonna be a 5-star. He sounds like a beast and his videos did impress me. He is like 6'4 235 and runs a 4.5 or 4.6---which is very impressive. Im sure he will be another C. Donald, starting out as a little 2 star recruit and ended up the best LB in his class.

He could end up like that, but I think he ends up closer to a top 100 4 star type, like Gerald Jones from last year. He may start as 3 star though. I have no idea why the experts aren't higher on him.

I'm not so sure about speed, at least not listed speed. He is listed with a 4.65 which is good at 6'3" 235 in HS. He is also very, very strong. He would be much better off ranking-wise if he moved to DE and was reclassified to that. The bigger issue is that I don't think he is going to any combines and he is such an early commit.

I base his speed off the video I watched. He didn't seem to show any speed that would merit 4-5* LB status. But, as I recall, that was from one game; so who knows.

Hopefully they will reclassify him to the DE position, because as from what I've been presented, that seems to be his best position. And yeah, it sucks that recruits get the shaft in the rankings because of their lack of combine results / because of the early commitments.

I think it was his vision that makes him so good. He see the RB and shuffles his feet side to side pretty fast to plug up the whole and get the tackle. I think he would make a great MLB clogging up the middle. Like the other guy said, his speed doesn't blow me away and really doesn't seem like a 4.5. But if it is listed on rivals it has to be legit.

Not true at all. However, if Johnson is pegged for a MLB role as you think, he won't need 4.5 speed.

4.65 is a faster forty time than Marvin Mitchell ran at the NFL combine I believe. And, he was a pretty good MLB.

4.65 is a good speed for a junior in HS and how much he weighs... That's about as fast as what Swain ran at the columbine and he didnt seem to slow.. imagine a 6-3, 235 pound LB running at u that fast..

No, I know 4.65 is good for a LB, but DMac was saying Rivals listed him as a 4.5, which is wrong.
