Former Auburn RB coach Eddie Gran is interviewing for the RB coaching job tonight. He has coached some great RBs at Auburn and also special teams.

Under Gran's guidance, Carnell Williams set the Auburn career record for rushing touchdowns ... Helped Auburn lead the SEC in scoring offense in 2005 and 2004 ... Hard to see what we're doing here. It appears CLK is gonna keep drayton. I don't see how we could offer Gran unless Drayton is going to coach a different position or Gran is going to coach STs.

I posted about him on another thread. This guy has a great resume. He has also coached at Ole Miss and Miami. I know he was the QB coach there...

I do know he's a Cali guy as well...

The only way Drayton stays is if we have people turning down jobs...which doesn't appear is going to happen. I don't see us retaining ANY coaches from the last regime.

Sounds like Gran suffers the usual love/hate fest that all coaches must endure. Some love them while others hate them. Seems like to me he did a good job coaching AU's backs but still gotta have a great O-line to open up holes. Thats what I'm interested in. :good!:

Based on what? I think Latrell Scott was the only one that had the possibility to be kept, but it appears he's leaving.

That is the way we are headed.
Do we have any info. stating Lane has been turned away on a hire? I thought I saw one the other day, but I don't remember who it was.
Im assuming this guy was his first choice for the RB spot.

He's been with Tubs since Ole Miss. 14 season's in the SEC and half a dozen guys in the NFL. He will be the next RB coach at UT unless he turns it down. Not a good recruiter but hopefully everyone else on the staff is. Drayton could coach TE's.

Cregg would coach TE's before Drayton would. Drayton's days are numbered. The only reason Drayton is being considered to stay is his Florida pipeline...if we get Gonzales (which CLK wants) then we have no need for drayton.

Tommy Moffit turned down the S&C coaching job.

Yea Smith is very well respected. I would have LOVED to have gotten Moffitt. He is widely considered the VERY best S&C coach out there.

Why do we want to keep Drayton. We haven't kept any kids that he recruited and he is not known for his coaching abilities.

Question?? Why do so many people on this board put, IMO, or JMO?? When you post something, that is exactly what you are doing...stating your opinion. By writing IMO, and JMO after your post you are pretty much saying, "here is my opinion on the the thread...and by the way it is my opinion(IMO)." It is very redundant to state your opinion, and then tell everybody it is your opinion...

Drayton couldn't keep Giles and he this guy has 10 years more SEC experience and produced a lot more NFL RBs. Florida started sucking at running the ball the minute he got there and we have sucked since he arrived. Who cares about Drayton. Same goes for WRs.
