Just saw this from Zac Etheridge (AU grad and Penn St. asst.). Doesn't faze me at all. And don't think it impacts our hire in the least. Personally, I think they could have done better.

Malzahn is an offensive guru. Whether he can get a defensive coach in there to keep up with his offense remains to be seen. I don't think this is a bad hire. He and Cam got Chizik the title. Once they both left, Auburn imploded.

Malzahn would probably only work at Auburn. Anywhere else would be a tough fit IMO.

In Auburn's case, he recruited that team and it is built specifically for his offensive style, so he can walk in and show immediate improvement with that horrid offense. Long term though, I don't he's knocking off Saban as King of Redneckville anytime soon.

He has almost no HC exp.

The only reason the hired him is because some think he is the reason they won a NC two years ago.

And he isnt the reason......CAM is the reason they won that NC.

That would be like us hireing Chaney.
