The problem is Dooley started at UT with very little and is slowly building the program. Chiz won his NC 2 yeats ago and its as if the programs going backwards

You silly rabbit! When you have an undefeated season, the only place to go from there is backwards....Did you think Auburn would be able to maintain a 14 - 0 record again??? So of course, they are going backwards. No where to go but backwards....

Nick Saban doesn't buy what you're selling.

In the midst of everyone playing the same game of grab ass with one another, I leave you with this:

@wshelton2: This is Year 8 for Spurrier in Columbia. Went between 6-6 and 8-5 his first five years. Last three: East title, 11-2, now this. Takes time.

But but but Nick Saban won a NC in his 3rd year at Alabama. So that means every coach should be able to do this. Right? :)

Saban:

2007: 7-6 -- Independence Bowl
2008: 12-2 -- lost to Florida in SEC Championship
2009: 14-0 -- NC
2010: 10-3 -- Capital One Bowl
2011: 12-1 -- NC

Of course there's nowhere to go but staying the course or backwards after a 14-0 season, and no rational person expects Chizik to go 14-0 every year. The problem is that they have had excellent recruiting for nothing to show the last couple years. As some have said, it's likely they only win 4-6 games tops. Not to mention, I think most people (even Auburn fans) are starting to catch on to the fact that that title was a fluky, once-in-a-lifetime thing, generated from a once-in-a-lifetime college football player in Cam Newton. Fluky or not, it still counts all the same though. I think Auburn would be foolish to rush Chizik out after this season, but I don't blame them for getting hot under the collar.

That was my point. That Saban doesn't buy in that once you win a NC that you have nowhere to go but backwards.

Lol. Spurrier was a proven winner, and program builder when he took the USCe job. Oh and that little thiing called a NC, not a career losing record. But of course he had all the advantages at that football power Duke when his career began. Sheep.

Okay, so it took a renowned winner and program builder 5 years to get the USC program off the ground according to what you just told me. So then why must we fire Dooley after 3 years? Think about what you're saying.

EDIT: Oh, and sheep.

The OP's point is a good one. Obvious but good. There is no reason every Auburn commit should not be questioning that commitment right now. They are a talented team losing largely because of poor coaching. They definitely had the better players today and stank it up.

I don't agree with every commit re-thinking their recruitment. Dee Liner and Foster are going to stick because similar to when there was a coaching change here at the helm they tried to hold on to recruits. I feel the guys on the fence and looking around, become more and more in play when the head coach and some of the personnel changes.

Look for Lawson, Toney, and possibly Trey Johnson to start to look around as they have been doing already. I also think some of the New Jersey guys are starting to respect what Coach Flood is doing at Rutgers and you may see T Bower to stay home.

The real question Auburn personnel and ultimately Auburn fans have is going to be when moving forward there is obvious problems with the offense. So when a problem occurs in similar situations there is usually a change at the OC position. The major problem i see is when/if they make a move with Loeffler leaving, does it cause a problem with Ace Recruiter Trooper Taylor. He made a move backwards from his Co-Offensive Coor position at OK State but wanted to get back into SEC. Now with the OC position opening up if they terminate CSL would he feel slighted enough that he may go out and find another place.

Good analysis. Based on where things stand today, AU may well be looking at a total housecleaning from AD to head coach and assistant coaches. Believe me, mechanics of timing are being discussed. Only a handful of sunshine pumpers are speaking out. Today a recruiting insider was asked who we would lose first. His answer was Trey Johnson for sure and Green and Adams next. (He was talking about commits and recruits). I think you may be right. Foster and Liner may well stick. My guess right now is that Toney would stick, but I don't say that overconfidently. Have not heard anything about Lawson yet.

He clearly didn't think before opening that flapper.

Starting with a full roster and years of good recruiting classes prior to coming has nothing to do with the quicker success.

It took Spurrier 6 years before he had a season anyone was happy with, and he walked into a program Holtz had been recruiting for, with very little attrition. But you guys think DD should be fired for not getting there in three, when he walked into a train wreck of a program. Absolutely ridiculous.

I don't think that. We can lose the next 3 games then win out and the bowl game and still finish 8-5. That's the best record we've had in 5 years. I think we give him one more year unless we completely fold the rest of the year.

Interesting quote from Tashawn Bower, 4 star defensive end from NJ. Got to admit I am kind of shocked by reaction. (Part of AU Rivals report just out.)

Bower said Auburn's 1-4 start to the season doesn't affect his commitment to the Tigers and their future.

"Every team goes through it," he said. "It's a learning period with a new DC and OC. It's part of the struggle and part of the grind. You have to go through it to get better. Every year can't be perfect."

Following the weekend trip, Bower doesn't plan to visit any other schools.

From Rivals recruiting chat today:

Auburn commit Trey Johnson was in Gainesville this weekend and enjoyed his visit. I see Anzalone flipping. Numbers will be tight, but if Johnson wants to come they will hold a spot for him.
