Apparently it is homesickness. Wish Momma would move to Knoxville. TN is 2 hours closer to home for the young man than Tallahassee was. FSU guys are doing the normal slaughter of a player who leaves a school, that he is lazy and fat and can't block. I think TN could use a guy with his frame if he can mentally commit to becoming great and doing the work the coaches ask him to do.

Can anyone explain to me the rules if a player has not started a season yet and is dismissed from a team? Can he transfer anywhere and play that season? I do not understand the transfer rules in this situation.

He and Stone would be a lot of beef for several years. I pray for the new Cosey Coleman all the time, but at this point I think many of us would be happy for a new Reggie Coleman or Fred Weary.

Interesting. Anybody know the transfer rules in this situation?

He still has signed a legal contract with FSU so they still have rights to him.

For how long? Is it a NCAA rule to make him sit out a year, or can he be released immediately? I guess what I am asking is if there is a NCAA rule or it is strictly the prerogative of FSU.

I do not think that he will end up here. I said it back in Feb....word around Memphis coaching circles is that this is another kid that Kiffin and the boys encouraged to go elsewhere. They were not impressed with his attitude and work ethic. Looks like they are already proving right.

NCAA rule... If he has a family issue he can ask the NCAA for an exception but they normally don't allow it. But most likely he would be RS any way his first year might not be a bad option to see if he will at least come. If he is lazy he doesn't need to come to the hill. This staff really isn't putting up with that.

Edit: "Exceptions" in handbook do not apply to Football.

I'm pretty sure he would have to sit out since he signed a LOI to FSU. I could be wrong, though.

EDIT: never mind, the previous post wasn't up yet when I started writing this

EDIT once again: I was apparently right the first time :)

haha...you were right....the rule was not entirely clear and when I researched it further I found that it was only for certain sports.

Remember the crap Bobby Bowden put Brandon Warren through when he transferred? I know they're different situations, but Bowden is a douche when it comes to letting kids out of scholarships, even for legitimate family reasons like Warren's (mom was really sick).

Dont want him.
If he can't handle Trickett? workouts, he sure wont handle ours. Heard he came in fat, out of shape, and a crappy work ethic.

Definitely don't want him... classic CPF lineman. Fat, lazy, and with a poor work ethic/altitude. Trust in Kiffin.

Let him go to Tiger High. If he couldn't hack it at FSU, he definitely wouldn't have at UT. JMO

Dude, thats a classic Jimmy Ray Stephens lineman perhaps... Florida fans laughed at us when we hired him away.

But we also had some great linemen during the Fulmer era, and I don't agree with making generalizations about the character of them all.

I think Gruden threw some praise toward the old staff when he drafted one of our linemen, saying something like.. you know you have a good lineman when he comes from TN.

I agree with this poster completely. Off the top of my head, Fulmer had Teague, Clifton, Weary and Coleman who all got paid in the NFL. I think Herrera was the last good un in the league but he also looks better in the NFL than he ever did here. Munoz should have been a warning sign to us all. With that pedigree and frame he should have grown into an NFL star under Fulmer. Also I do love McNeil and think he will be in the league for years. Can we say that about anyone else on our O Line right now?

yeah...but Munoz pretty much lost an entire leg while he was here...his injuries were what held him back.

This is only an 18 year old kid probable away from home for the first time. He may be big but not very mature. He certainly has potential at 6'-6" and 310 lb. with a four star rating. I am sure we would have taken him had he committed to us in 09. I believe he would have to sit out a year if he was to transfer. If he wants to attend Tennessee the coaches have most likely previously evaluated his ability to play in this program. Given his size and level of talent as a high school senior if he is willing to make the effort at Tennessee I believe we should pursue him. We certainly need additional bodies on the line.

McNeil is struggling to keep a walk-on from taking his starting job. He didn't start the O&W game.

Jacques McClendon and Vlad Richards could be NFL players but they both need a good year this year.

He probably can't find anyone to take his tests for him right now, since the heat is on.
