Attendance will be higher than what's expected, simply because Maurer is starting. I'm going to say....maybe 95,000

Tuesday there were just under 10,000 tickets not sold at utsports.com. I am going to say 75K tops for actual with an announced crowd of 90,500. Tickets at aftermarket sites are as cheap as $19 today.

I don't remember the exact number announced, I'm thinking it was around 92,000

Edit* that's what I get for commenting on a thread early in the morning. I misread, thought we were talking about attendance for the Georgia game.
I never comment unless Ive had my coffee lol

I live too far away but if I could get there... I would be there. There are problems but to me those freshmen especially deserve the support. They believe that they can build something. Some of the upper classmen are jaded. It won't be a bad thing when they're gone. But those young guys really need the support.

There's a Catch-22 to low attendance. If you don't go because the team is bad... that can influence recruits in attendance. You may hurt the program's chances to get the very guys needed to improve the team. Whether Pruitt or the next guy... they're going to need quality players.

I truly get using attendance or lack thereof to express frustration with the leadership and coaches. But IMO, that's not where we need to be.... yet.

I was fine with people not going to voice the displeasure in coaching. I am still displeased. Now with players coming out with positive tweets about how they need fans in the stands, I wish we would pack the stadium every game now despite how we play. Doesn't mean I'll be going as I live 6 hrs away.

You are right!! The actual people in their seats is always much, much less than the announced crowd.

Either they flat out lie, or the ticket takers get bored and start spinning the turnstiles. A lot!

If you go stand on the corner of Phillip Fulmer Way and Peyton Manning Pass about 30 minutes before kickoff people will give you tickets.
I've never sold a ticket, but have given away quite a few over the years. Better to give a ticket to a Vol Fan, that otherwise may not have the $$ for a ticket, than to sell to the opposition. I do not fault anyone for selling their tickets, they are their property, I just don't do it. But I believe Boca Vol is right-you'll be able to get some free tickets, if you hang around the corner.
My guess of actual butts in seats-often far different than the "tickets sold" number: 72,000

A loss this weekend will kill any chance to fill up Neyland in the near future. I remember a few years ago Ga. Tech sold 3 game ticket packages for 100.00 but still couldn't fill there stadium. I'm afraid this may happen to UT.

We have far too many season ticket holders, those that make their mandatory donations in order to be able to purchase their tickets, to start giving them up. For far too many, a UT Football game is a social event-vol navy, tail-gating, drinking before and after the game with friends, etc., for many winning is good, but if not, what they hell-they always have a big time. Should every fan have a big time? Hell, yes. For some of us, it would be a better time if we had more Ws than Ls. When the long time season ticket holders start complaining-in a meaningful way, things will change, and in a hurry.
