Official attendance is based on the number of tickets sold which ≠ the number of people in the stadium.

Why is this such a difficult concept for so many people to grasp?

What's the average ticket price for the lowest price tickets?

That means that there are about 16,000 seats going unsold. You take the 16K * the low ticket value and you have the lost revenue. Of course, that's only lost revenue on ticket sales; doesn't include concessions and other things; which is more difficult to calculate.

Problem calculating ticket sales vs. actual patrons is the loss of revenue associated with concessions. 40,000 fewer people spending on average $20/person on food/other = $800,000 less in revenue than a full house.

Big, big losses on the hill. Does anybody know what attendance figure is actually needed to 'break even'?

That's a lie.

Before you say it's a lie... check out the link the OP provided... his source supports his reported attendance figure... sadly low.

UT football is losing fan support quickly... Dooley lost it long ago. Hart will too, if he does not act to find a quality replacement for Dooley in a timely manner.
