Atlanta Vol has spoken!

And if Currie had succeeded in sneaking Schiano in under the radar, what then?
Are we supposed to just forget the Penn State fiasco?
Look, Schiano may be as innocent as a babe in the woods for all I know.
However, as far as I'm concerned (and the vast majority of other UT fans, it seems) we need to stay away from ANY ONE ON THAT STAFF during that time period. No way UT can afford to take that chance.
Not to mention, his won/loss record is a joke.
The fact that Urban Meyer vouched for him gives me the creeps-think Aaron Hernandez. Yeah, Urbane Cryer is one hell of a judge of character. No thanks.
Whatever the cost, if avoiding a potential nightmare is the short term price, so be it.

The ESPN mafia and their ilk hate us anyway.
Let 'em hate.
I've never been prouder to be a Vol.

I'm actually proud of this blowback too. Cannot stand these corrupt people who dominate educational institutions.

One that didn't cover up child molestation?
Come on! You probably didn't even know the guy was on the staff at Penn State until yesterday. He was 25 at the time and just starting his career. He wasn't my first pick but the moral outrage is a bunch of BS! The simple fact is that most of the outrage is being flammed by these idiot Gruden groupies that can't come to grips with the fact that he is NEVER going to be the coach at UT! Most everyone simply latched onto the first negative thing they heard about Shaino and ran with it. I don't know if the guy did anything wrong or not, but I'm not willing to condemn a man based on hearsay. Don't get me wrong I didn't want him because I don't think he would be a good fit.

Don't know who atlantavol is and don't care. I simply know that after yesterday and the absolute ignorance and hostility displayed by this fan base that our chances of landing a coach of any quality is GONE! Anyone thinking otherwise is either ignorant, stupid or completely delusional! Wanting something and actually getting it is completely different! What coach in his right mind would intentionally fall into this toxic environment?

I'm exceedingly proud of our alumni and fans who took to the streets, phones and internet yesterday. They're about all we have to be proud of in this latest episode of the Big Orange Screw. Yes, they were hostile and loud. They had to be. We've been run over by a key insider for far too long. Fortunately, someone in the UTAD had our backs and leaked the information yesterday that Schiano was about to be hired. If it weren't for that leak AND if it weren't for the passion and anger of our alumni and fans, you'd be seeing Schiano in Knoxville today as our head coach and our fate would have been sealed. Schiano was a terrible candidate, but he was Haslam's man. And so is John Currie. Our fans saved us and bought a little time.

I want AtlantaVol to tell me what happened to the done deal with Gruden....

AV NEVER said Gruden was a done deal. Some of y’alls anger is so misplaced it’s ridiculous. Yup, Gruden insiders were wrong. Guess what so were the Petersen and Mullen insiders. I don’t know why your anger is just directed at the Gruden insiders.

Take your anger and go voice it to the very people who you should yelling at Currie, Davenport, Haslem.

Correction...the highest taxpayer paid, public face of the University and the state of Tennessee.

He still might be. Guy on Ohio radio said GS is going after the full 20 million owed to him. He won’t get that, but for every dollar he gets, that’s one dollar that doesn’t get used in the AD. Tn is in a no win situation, if he ends up suing, the media has marked which agenda they sit on. XM has called Vol fans idiots, unintelligent, ignorant, the list goes on so Tn doesn’t want this played out in the public.

IDK, if he tries to bring up the fans, the lawyers could point to the fans not wanting anything to do with a guy from PSU during that time.

He could be asked some very uncomfortable questions if he chooses to go down that road.

You can’t run a program with that cloud of evil anywhere close to your new coach. He might be innocent yet maybe guilty. I’m so proud of the fan base for stopping this dead in its track.

MOU should have been written as non-binding. Unless a contract was signed he is not entitled to a penny unless stated in the MOU.

This is likely to save face and prove UT had no reason to walk away. Don't blame him; it is his professional career at stake and he got flamed on speculation.

I do wonder if there is a potential civil suit? Any legal smart folks have thoughts?

You are full of it! So it is our fault, for not wanting Schiano?
Just. Go. Away!

Who would he sue? Can't be UT cause this info about him is public knowledge. It's been out there since last year.

It just seemed to never come up cause no one wanted the guy as head coach. Honestly, he picked the wrong program to try this on. He, Currie, Davenport, and Haslam are all to blame for what happened.

UT as a university never came out and said anything against him.

So again, who will he sue?

I would suspect the individual in question does not want this battle fought in public. If he takes this to the courts, every possible demon and skeleton and bone fragment in his closet (not saying he has any) will be explored.

Character assessments from former (retired) players would be lined up. Any reasonable defense team to that suit would push for a lie detector test covering the basis for the WP article - which is the grounds on which he would be challenged for every recruit that was contested in the SEC. If he passed all of that with flying colors. If sworn testimony tying him to PS scandal is recanted (again basis for this being a DOA head coaching hire), then UTAD owes him whatever the courts want - and should pay it.

Unlikely that it's not legally binding unless they did something different from Barnes MOU which is publicly assessable. Also unlikely that he gets 20 million but he probably would get something BUT he likely also gets so dirtied that he's unhireable as a head coach. Pretty sure both parties will come to a quiet resolution BC it's not good for either side. Media is with Schiano currently but can shift quickly especially if it makes them money.

The fan base is the one showing ignorance? What about an AD willing to hire someone that may have enabled child abuse? No we don’t know that he saw it happen, but we don’t know he didn’t either. You don’t associate a multi-million dollar brand with someone that has that baggage. But ok so we’re the stupid ones.
