Atlanta paper on Vols v GA

I know what the score was last year, but I remember watching that game thinking that we actually didn’t play poorly. We were overmatched, but our mistakes were correctable and the score wasn’t indicative of the actual competition. I may be one of a few or none who feel that way.

What is telling about the AJC reporters' perspective on Tennessee is the list of related reports on UGA's opponents. May the Vols prove them wrong come October.

I think they are just going in schedule order for them, with the exception of the ND game, that they are probably doing some sort of crazy feature on.

The Georgia Tennessee game won’t be competitive.
I wouldn't make an ironclad prediction like that. The game has been competitive numerous times when it shouldn't have been... and non-competitive a few times when it should have been.

UT should be better this year. UGA lost a few key guys but they return a ton too. I've always considered this a near certain loss.... but a football bounces funny sometimes.

"Tennessee’s offense never moved past mediocrity last season (22.8 points and 325.5 yards per game), so coach Jeremy Pruitt made big moves within his coaching staff. "

Not much else there. Except they seem to call out Guarantano and his receivers as potential threats.

I've said The offense will be 10 points better this year. We shall see.

So, you're saying the AJC links back to the same first three no matter which game preview you're reading (excepting the ND feature)?

No, have they done every team on UGA's schedule yet or is it just our turn in a running feature that is not yet complete? I just note that those links are in the exact order UGA is playing those teams.

Honestly I think a big thing with our competition this year is that they honestly have no idea how TN will do. Will we be the team the beat Auburn and Kentucky? Or the team that crapped out against Florida and Vandy? They don’t know.

The bad news is, neither do we.

Probably just how we want it.Would not bother me if they win the first three in average fashion, then in week four? Go into Gainesville as 14 point underdogs, but win by 28. Likely? No. But wouldn't that be special?

UT is going to be BETTER than the team that beat an average/good AU team and an average/good UK team!!! Pruitt knows what he is doing and will make all the right moves. Let's hope UT wins at least 8 games this year and gets a top 10 recruiting class. I am confident that these coaches can coach up the players and get UT into the playoffs 1 or more times every 3 years with top 10 classes every year!!!

Love the enthusiasm but Coach Chaney doesn't have time to coach the offensive line.

If that happens I’ll do a tap dance naked

Just ask the UGA tight end that scored on us on a sack/forced fumble. Never seen anything like that before in my life.

Yeah. And that wasn't the only bad bounce UT got that day. It seemed like every bounce and most of the calls went against the Vols.

Yeah. But I’ve seen everything else that happened in that game before but the TE being in that exact spot in the backfield on a pass play and the ball bouncing right into his arms is something on an entirely different level.

Probably one of few...but, I think this is a very close game or we beat UGA this year...jmo
I can believe UT beating UGA instead of UF. Some weird juju between UT and UF for some reason. The Georgia games most of the time are more competitive. Outside of the 4th quarter last year, the game wan never out of hand

If the Vols score 30 or more points in either game they have an excellent chance to win either game.

In terms of competing with Georgia, I just have to see it to believe it. It's going to require a huge amount of improvement to compete with Georgia. Georgia is so deep and ridden with talent it isn't even funny.

Where in my post you quoted did I say CJC was going to coach the OL? He helped coach the OL during his last four years at UT. The OC is an on the field coach that works with lots of groups when he feels the need, same for DC and Ansley!

The one area I really want to see improvement this year is in 1st quarter scoring. Last year our offense didn’t seem to show up until late in the 2nd quarter. You don’t win many games when your playing from behind most of the game.
