The Lions didn't need pass rush. They need pass defenders. Milliner is right there. Take Warmack because they need help at the O-Line.

Ansah started NINE CAREER GAMES. NINE. His career sacks? 4.5!!!!

Not disagreeing on Ansah, but I don't see how a team could value Millner at #5 overall. You could get corners comprable to him in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Oh come on now.. That's your reasoning?

Uh, I never called it "reasoning." That implies a rational argument. Nothing about rooting for a sports team is rational unless you've got a family member on the team who gets a bonus if they win.

The Nashville NFL team wasn't there when I was growing up and has hurt the Vols' attendance -- I personally know three former UT season ticketholders who have Titans tickets now, so God knows how many there are. Why should I support them just because they're branding themselves after the whole state?

So it isn't rational for me to root for a professional football that represents my state and my city?

No need to take a professional team personal. It is very much possible for a state like Tennessee to support both.

You live in Nashville. If I lived in Nashville I probably would have jumped on it too. If I were growing up in Tennessee now, I'd probably grow up a Titans fan. I certainly don't begrudge anybody rooting for them. But there's only one team that plays football in Tennessee that I give a crap about, and there's no question that the the pro team in Nashville is one of the reasons why they've had trouble filling the stadium.

As I said, I know three people in Nashville, one of them my brother-in-law, all with the same story. Longtime UT season ticket holders. Enthusiastically jumped on the Titans when they showed up. Went to both for a few years; all three eventually let the UT tickets lapse because the weekends were too much. None of them bailed because the team got bad. They bailed because they couldn't do both.

As I said, I don't blame anybody in Nashville. But personally, I see no reason to root for that team at all.

(Bold for emphasis)

I get it ole chap. Just don't be trying to jump on the wagon when Jake Locker leads us to the promise land.

(obvious sarcasm)

I like the Falcons but they are probably 4th on the list. I keep up with them after the Titans, Giants/Lions.

You can see how it would be difficult to explain all that to an eight year old, though. Especially one who feels a little embarrassed to have been born in Georgia because almost everyone in his whole extended family is from Tennessee.
