Kamara is getting wasted. North has regressed. Malone hasn't progressed. Butch's win list while at UT is circulating twitter. You have to see it to fully appreciate its ****tiness.

LOL who is on it? A sh!t South Carolina team and a sh!t Iowa team?

It's just Carolina (2x), Kentucky (2x), Vandy and OOC games, right?

Butch's 14 wins:

Austin Peay
Western Kentucky
South Alabama
Kentucky x2
South Carolina x2
Vandy
Utah state
Arkansas state
Iowa
UT Chattanooga
Bowling green
Western Carolina

lmao

And all of that currently has him lagging behind Dooley's torrid win rate, IIRC.

$10 million we owe this dude. Just reckless.

I know that buyout is a huge financial obstacle, but I wonder if keeping him another year would actually be more devastating to the bottom line. I'd say over half the fanbase is already done with this season, with many, many more likely to bail as the next two games play out. They did really well with ticket sales this year, but I don't see how the repeat that, or even get back in the same ballpark if all the fans have to look forward to is another year of wasted talent and excuse making.

I saw some BS numbers thrown around on another website that illustrated how diminished ticket sales and attendance could account for over $5 million next year alone. I don't know how realistic that is. As much as people want to b!tch and complain about how bad we are as fans, we continuously come to games. And as long as there's butts in the seats, Butch ain't going anywhere.

I actually saw a thread in the FF suggesting Butch might leave on his own. LMFAO.

Buyout reset to $4 million. With the right coach to do something with the talent on hand, that money could be recouped fairly quickly.

I thought it was still $2 million per year left on the contract? Which now runs through 2020. I'd love to be wrong.

I think that's about to change starting next week. I'm talking about even worse than the end of Dooley's tenure once we get into November. At least Dooley had the excuse of having next to no talent on the roster to justify his suckiness. Jones has highly rated talent all of the field and is just wasting it. They can't all (Jalen Hurd excluded) be busts.

Granted, the University already has their money for this year's tickets, but I think the number of empty seats the rest of the year is going to be eye opening. If people are willing to just eat hundreds of dollars worth of tickets to avoid having to watch this team, you can't be too optimistic about trying to sell them next year if the whole crew responsible for this disastrous season is getting back together.

No. I misunderstood the article. Hart may wind up getting ousted before Jones, and a new AD might insist on making a change. If things don't turn around on the field, you gotta figure recruiting will start to dip again, and that's all he's got to brag about.

I mean, I'm in that boat. I bought season tickets, so my money counts the rest of the year no matter what. I can tell you this, though...I'm calling the airline in the morning to see if I can change my flights next weekend from a rountrip ticket into Atlanta (to go to Knoxville for UGA) to a roundtrip to Jacksonville, FL to go home.

We have to start there. Get Hart out of here yesterday.

It is. I think the $4M is what he owed us if he left to take another job. Seriously though, **** this guy. He leveraged Michigan's job opening and their almost certainly imaginary "interest" in him into a crippling contract for us once he was exposed as the carnival barker that he actually is.

I think at this point if we could somehow find a way to suck it up and pay the buyout, this year is the time to make the change. Any coaching candidate will be able to look at this roster and see there is a lot to work with, and that may not be the case if Butch is at the helm for much longer.

Also, people always say that coaches won't want to come here because we burn through so many coaches, but I don't think that's as big a factor as some make it out to be. Any coach worth a damn is going to have a big enough ego to think he can win on some level here, and it's not like we're blowing guys out because we aren't satisfied with 9 wins a year. We're blowing them out because they're flat out failing in spite of having all the resources any coach could ask for.

Who are the realistic replacements? If it comes down to hiring another "up-and-comer", I'm not sure its even worth it. Do we really want to roll the dice on Fuente or someone who has proven nothing yet? Anyone else would cost a fortune to lure here. After a $10 million buyout, I just don't know how much money there is left to hire someone who's a proven winner.

I don't disagree. I don't think it will happen, because of the financial commitment, but there's going to come a tipping point where the recruiting will start to fall off and we'll be back to square one with nothing to attract any coach worth a damn.

No idea on what's realistic, especially so early in the season when there's not really any clear picture on who's even going to be available. As long as Hart is still AD though, there's no point in changing coaches. I don't want him making another hire.

I also wonder when we'll start hearing from the Whartons, the Petermans, the Fergusons, et al, about why they all left and what they think of Jones.
