Athlon prediction - Butch Jones wins Coach of the Year

Great post OP.

Article also has "Tennessee on the Rise" as a storyline. As well as a vote for Kamara as Top Newcomer, two votes for McKenzie as top freshman, Tennessee finishing second in the division behind UGA with an 8-4 record, two votes for Barnett at DPOY, a vote for Tennessee as team on the rise, and a vote for Tennessee as hardest to evaluate. haha

Barnett is one of the best players I have ever seen play at UT- even as a freshman, he was dominant.

If the Vols go 10-2 or better, and get to Atlanta in December. Butch should be seriously considered for SEC coach of the year. If the Vols win the SEC, he should be a shoe-in for SEC CoY and seriously considered for national CoY honors.

I think any of this is possible.

p.s. Article isn't coherent within itself. Says Tennessee will end the season 8-4, 5-3 in the SEC ... but 2 of 4 say Butch gets CoY in the SEC. And then does not include him in the top 5 coaches of the conference. You don't win CoY for winning just over half your league games, and showing only marginal improvement over the previous year. The coach with the breakout year is the one who wins CoY ... and barring a breakout team, the award goes to a championship winner or runner up. Nonsensical.

Is it just me, or do these awards seem rediculous? PRE-SEASON coach of the year prediction!?! If he goes 10-2 and wins it, then let's see ... he went 7-6 last year and didn't get a vote. Is Butch going to really be that much better in 15' than 14'?

Who comes up with this stuff?

100% agree. We still have an offensive line that can't pass block well or run block well. And we know from last year's ride how well the offense works when your line gets whipped. See the 2014 Florida game or 2014 Missouri games as examples. These predictions are laughable really. All to sell magazines I guess.

It is not a pre-season award. It is a prediction on who will win it at the end of the year.

Would love to see this all come true... the potential inspires a lot of hope.

And with our piss poor O-line we lost both those games by one score. Our entire defense will be better this year, our RBs will be better, our WRs will be better, our QB will be better, our TEs will be better, our kicker will be better. So even if our O-line shows no improvement(not likely considering our starting LT went out in game 1), all these other improvements should result in a couple more wins

No, your comment is pretty laughable all by itself.

Son you might as well play the lottery with your mindset. And you think we won't get any injuries this year at RB or QB or WR either? Who backs up Dobbs? Peterman? Lord help us if/when that occurs. And with our OL and the fact Dobbs runs a lot; I think an injured QB could be a real concern.

It's kind of funny when you compare Athlon's preseason predictions to Phil Steele's. Makes Phil look like a moron

Ummmm Peterman is at Pitt. Did you just wake up from a coma? Or did you forget to take your meds? You're senile son...get off of your grandsons laptop and go back to watching reruns of In Heat of the Night.
