Today on radio.Mark Howard 104.5 the Zone (Nashville) reporting the Bama loss was Fulmer's final straw and Chavis would be appointed interim for the remainder of the season. He says this was leaked from inside UT athletic department.

Take it for what it's worth but I did include sources.

Don't think so. They will retain Fulmer to the end of the season--because the damage is done for this season.

Doubt its true. I don't see anyway phil doesn't get to finish the year. Unless hamilton feels phil has lost the team completely.

Listening to Fulmer's press conference today, I heard nothing that would make me think he was about to announce retirement, much less stepping away before the end of the year.

Not questioning this at all..... I just don't understand why they don't make an announcement already!?!? Instead, we get blah, blah, blah, coach speak press conference, "Fulmer Puzzled with lack of Offense" articles, etc....

One thing about it if they did pull the trigger we would definitely see just how good a play caller Clawson is.

Default Re: Phil Fulmer
This was emailed to me last night from a very very reliable person in ut athletics...

From a very reliable source who got this from a coaching staff member.

The assistants have been informed that a change is being made.

Fulmer, Atkins, Brooks and Slade are finished after Kentucky game. Buyouts will be honored.

Others will stay on until new coach is hired. Their future likely decided by new coach.

They are still negotiating Fulmer's demands. Beside the buyout, he still remains adamant about renaming Neyland Stadium to Fulmer Stadium. This would make up for Fulmer not having the opportunity to break Neyland's win record. Hamilton has countered with forfeiting 100 of Neyland's wins.

The one good thing about ALL of these rumors is that they can't ALL be false. There's no way Fulmer coaches next year.

I never thought much about what Mark Howard says. He says he likes Fulmer quite a bit. I think it is because he wants to take over Fulmer's Krispey Kreme deal to rival his co-workers (Whycheck) Duncan Donuts endorsement.
