I respect that, but will agree to disagree. Dude who should never have been here and bashed a girl's head in because he could. Lost his right to live at that point. Need to return to public executions no matter the race or ethnicity of the victim or the perp.I wish all of government would stop seeking the death penalty
The DA in Athens-Clarke County has NEVER secured a guilty verdict in a jury trial since taking office in 2020. Also states that she will NEVER seek the Death Penalty. Let that sink in.
Something needs to happen. Lived in Washington GA for 10 years. Never was concerned when my kids went to Athens. Times change.Living in the area, I've heard that even quite a few dyed-in-the-wool leftists in Athghanistan say they're supporting her challenger (an Independent) in the upcoming election because Gonzalez is inept. The DA's office pays a pretty competitive salary, yet has been so understaffed they have had to bring in outside prosecutors.

Laken Riley Murder: Sheriff Opposed Turning Criminal Illegals Over to ICE

Government has a long history of abusing authority to get confessions, falsify evidence, rig juries, and bully witnesses. Can't be trusted. They have lost the right to end life. They/we have, with zero doubt, executed innocent people. That's unacceptable.I respect that, but will agree to disagree. The problem isn’t the ones they get right - it’s the ones they get wrong.I respect that, but will agree to disagree. Dude who should never have been here and bashed a girl's head in because he could. No argument about the government, particularly the Federal. Tough issue without an easy answer.Government has a long history of abusing authority to get confessions, falsify evidence, rig juries, and bully witnesses. Can't be trusted. Final thoughts, and I do respect your position: Should law abiding tax payers foot the bill to house, feed, and clothe these animals for life, and if I as the parent of a victim decide to use my child's killer as target practice, what should my punishment be? Sorry, I'm pissed off and sick of our spineless elected officials.Respectfully disagree. It's not tough. We know that the state is a fraud and has killed innocents. So they can't do that anymore.
Multiple studies have found it’s actually more expensive to prosecute a capital case through appeals than to simply house them for life. Fwiw.Final thoughts, and I do respect your position: Should law abiding tax payers foot the bill to house, feed, and clothe these animals for life, and if I as the parent of a victim decide to use my child's killer as target practice, what should my punishment be? Yes. Bc we don't get it right all the time. The state should never be allowed a “oopsie sorry we killed you and are wrong.”Final thoughts, and I do respect your position: Should law abiding tax payers foot the bill to house, feed, and clothe these animals for life, and if I as the parent of a victim decide to use my child's killer as target practice, what should my punishment be? So, who exhibits a greater degree of moral rot - the Sheriff who campaigned on this position or the voters who elected him?Laken Riley Murder: Athens Sheriff Opposed Turning Criminal Illegal Aliens Over to ICE for Deportation

Clarke County, Georgia, Sheriff John Q. Williams (D), representing Athens, where 22-year-old Laken Riley was murdered allegedly by an illegal alien, said he opposed turning criminal illegal aliens over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation, claiming the practice promotes a “culture of fear.”
Williams, who successfully ran for sheriff in Clarke County Sheriff in 2020, told Athens Politics Nerds at the time that he opposed cooperating with ICE. The federal agency often relies on local law enforcement to turn over to their custody illegal aliens arrested for crimes so they can be detained and deported from the United States.
“It is not my intention, when elected sheriff, to cooperate with those detainers,” Williams said in response to a question regarding ICE detainers, which are issued against illegal aliens wanted by the agency after they are arrested on local charges:
I've got an idea, let's allow the victim's loved ones choose the prison, cell block and cell mate where the criminal will spend the rest of their life. With proper selection the sentence would be a living hell.Multiple studies have found it’s actually more expensive to prosecute a capital case through appeals than to simply house them for life. Fwiw.
These clowns have created the culture of fear….for our lives. Such a freaking joke and lack of awareness. What’s the fear for illegal immigrants??? They might have to go through the actual legal channels to come here?? Oh, the f’ing humanity!!!! So sad!So, who exhibits a greater degree of moral rot - the Sheriff who campaigned on this position or the voters who elected him?
