At this point how does Dooley have any supporters

He is the head coach. But he isn't without fault. I will criticize and support him until he is no more. It's part of the job for him and part of being a fan for us.

5+ years of experience, I'd say it's safe to say he's a bad hc

Absolutely this. In five full seasons he's had a winning record one time. There is ample evidence he isn't a good coach, nor even an average coach. There's really only one option left.

The way Dooley's contract is structured, we've got a problem by cutting him. So in that sense I "support" him. We can't afford to pay both Fulmer, Dooley AND another coach in new and old contracts, which we would be doing through 2013 if we fire him now.

Its hard to dislike the guy. He's got the fire and the passion and is very relatable. He's just missing an obvious X factor to survive in this league. Its not on him. A lot of coaches are missing it. He could go on and have a wonderful career in the ACC.

Our problem is simple. We made a hasty, poor hire. I, along with many, wanted a mega hire to come out of that Kiffin disaster, but we didn't get it. It snowballed on us and here we are. Derek Dooley has a big paycheck we're stuck with. If we had hired Kippy as an interim for a year, accepted that we wouldn't have gotten as great a recruiting class that year, and played damage control- we would have an excellent coach now. That's basically what Ohio State did, and look at them- Urban Meyer.

You are on a message board. Which is a conduit for messages. Which implies discussion. Which is pointless without opinions.

If you just want to watch the damn games and see how it works itself out, then you probably should close your web browser and come back after the season.

I thought message boards were for opinions and discussions.
I'm pretty sure this site wasn't created to form one big *****ing fest, which is what a few have chosen to push it towards. If you think saying the same crap over and over and berating others qualifies as a solid discussion, you are wrong again. Problem is, some fans are so pissed, they can't have a discussion, much less an objective one.

How could it get worse? The Vols just had back to back losing seasons for the first time in about 100 years. Our more experienced roster with Dooley's allegedly upgraded staff lost at home by more points to a younger UF team than they did a year ago in the Swamp without Hunter for most of the game. The team folded against KY last year with a bowl appearance on the line and they folded against UF with a return to national relevance on the line. Staying the course is much riskier than making a change at this point.

you never know what you are getting. examples, Petrino, Kiffin, Zook, and many more. even current Florida coach and Tennessee coach. neither yet proven anything. Mike Stoops at Arizona..

I was a little upset over the Florida loss, but I realized going into the game that a loss was a real possibility. My feelings toward the program are largely unchanged between the beginning of that game and the end of that game.

Given the financial situation of the athletic department, Dooley's current terms of contract, and what I believe are the AD's expectations for this year; I believe that Dooley will coach again next year.

Regardless of whether I think he should be fired or retained, I cannot influence the decision. I can choose to air my negative opinions in full light of recruits, opposing fans, other UT fans, etc. But I guess I don't feel like that would accomplish anything positive.

I like reading through the forums to keep current, but all the negativity in the forum is affecting me. And if it is affecting me, I know it is affecting others. I haven't been as excited to sneak over to volnation at work this week. I believe that the ire toward Dooley does negatively affect UT recruiting. I believe that there are other negative consequences as well.

I know that this is a forum, and I'm not for censorship of unpopular opinions for the sake of suppressing opinions, but I would ask that some of you self-censor yourselves particularly when you are making derisive statements toward the players, coaching staff, and other forum members.

Sorry for the rant. I'm done.

I hear a lot of people on here saying he needs more time and that he inherited a mess. I don't know how you support a guy that has 0 big wins in 2+ years and his teams progressively get worse over the course of games. He makes no adjustments and consistently gets out coached by everybody. It just blows my mind how he is still our coach because honestly a guy off the street could do just as good as him imo.

Count me as a major non supporter.

Then the fans that want to try and play that game shouldn't have been part of the atmosphere Saturday.

And let's not act like there aren't empty seats in every SEC stadium with games lime akron, bg, w ky, etc. That's been happening for several years now.

Let's not act like Alabama doesn't sell out their stadium when they play each other in the Spring.

What is 3-4 more games going to prove? Hasn't his body of work to date warranted a decision on his coaching ability?

Two drivers

Dale Earnhart in his prime and me

I have a Ferrari, Earnhart has an AMC Gremlin(pea green)

Who is most likely to win? me

Does this prove I'm the better driver or that I have the better car?
