Which right now is by far the best thing about last night.

Of course now I expect we'll not see them anymore because stupid Fulmer will likely be convinced that they are the reason UT lost.

Got nothing to do with luck. We've worn them 3 times since 1992.

By that logic, the white pants are extremely bad luck since we've lost so many times in them. I guess we better find some black pants or something then.

I like the look, but only if we're winning. :)

Otherwise, we look like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the 1980's :shakehead:

Nice thread.
As orange as my glasses normally are, I was having trouble finding a positive in that one. Thx.

Will UT wear them for the florida game?

I could care less what they wear. They could wear rainbow pants. It doesn't get us past the fact that Florida will probably rock us worse then last year... When was the last time the Vols lost by 60+?

Not too sure about the pants yet....it seems they have to change somthing every year on opening day.Just keep the big wide orange stripe on the helmet and never go back to the lame junior ball skinny stripe they tried a couple of years back (i still wonder how & who came up with that one) Don't really matter what pants you wear.....ya gotta know what to do in them once you hit that field! well I guess the upside is....Arian won't have to carry us....he'll have Hardesty to help.If govenor Phulmer & mayor clawson sees fit. ;)

The way the Vols played last night? They should try something more appropriate - cheerleading skirts perhaps? :p Or something in pink..............:banghead2:

must say i got pumped up when i saw the pants. and after watching the D the first half i was pleased, but the O looked bad. Foster had several good runs, and so did Hardesty. Only bad thing from them was the one fumble, which it happens. i have no idea what crompton was thinking last night. i think he wanted to try to impress everyone. no time for that, just make the right read, get the ball to the reciever and that'll be fine. coaching = F

I would doubt they would wear the orange pants against Florida because it's a home game, and that would mean orange on orange.

Unless Fulmer makes them wear them so that after we get the probable whipping, he can start saying "See....the orange pants = loss".

I liked the pants a lot...No it has nothing to do with the loss but the pants were a nice change IMO

The orange pants were the best looking thing on the field last night. I hope we don't scrap them because of the terrible showing last night. The look was much better than the all orange we saw last year.

The pants looked great, nice to see some more orange in the away uniforms for a change. Unfortunately, we lost, so it might be another 15 years till we see them again.

Orange pants looked great, and I hope they keep them for all away games. Uniform colors does not a team make however. . .through the acrid smoke of a underachieving team (in only it's first game!) I say the whole mess could have been averted with two philosophical changes:

One, with an OL with all starters returning and two all-america calibre running backs in your stable, you don't ask a "rookie" quarterback to throw 42 times when you average 5.2 yards a carry. . . PERIOD! Especially when you tell the press that you are schooling your QB that he doesn't have to make every pass play work. . .and not to force it!

Two, with the DB we have put together and the pre-season hype directed to not only Berry but also Morley and the others, you can't play those WR's so soft! Challenge the WR's to beat you, it'll make your pass rush all the more effective!

I have repeatedly on this forum defendend Fulmer and his coaches. Yes, this is only the first game, and I for one, do not panic after just one game and will certainly continue to be supportive. But we were out coached in this one. . .and I just don't understand why? :dunno:

I've always liked the orange pants with the 2 white stripes. I also like the wide helmet stripe.
But it doesn't matter how you look it's how you play and we played horribly.........but at least we looked good doing it.

White/Orange for away games looks perfect. Needs to be the standard away game uniform.
