A BIG congrats goes to those Vols left standing on the field yesterday in Nashville and to those who gave their all for Tennessee this year. Y'all earned this Bowl Game and I could care less where and who we play - just give'm hell Vols!

Butch, win this bowl game, keep the kids academically eligible till bowl time, keep the kids out of jail, get that highly touted next class in under your careful watch, find a professional play caller and keep adding mortar and brick.

This is a lot to ask mind you, but you have been trusted to steer the SS VolNation to being feared and competitive again. Thank you for 6-6. On to bigger and better things.

Amen!!!! And I even agree with getting a play caller. At times the past two weeks I asked, what the hell are we trying to do?.. The past tow weeks was like night and day.. we were mixing it up against bama(2nd half) south Carolina and Kentucky. Then we.. well.. I don't know what the hell to call it... but regardless, I'm glad we are going to a bowl, these senior's, this fan base deserves it.. way to go vols..

I must agree. Up 7 late in the game and finally having established some form of a running game, we called three straight passing plays on a day when Dobbs could not make a throw and handed the ball back to Vandy. Inexcusable.

That being said, they fought like crazy and found a way to get it done. Very proud of these young men, and looking forward to a bowl game where I hope to see better offensive play calling.

To me, it's all icing at this point- the bowl, the extra practice, the momentum... to next year, when these Freshman who are so full of talent and heart aren't Freshmen any more!!!

The play calling was ok. The line didn't block well and that makes any play call look bad. Hurd went out and there is a big drop off from there. CBJ played it safe at the end because any kind of win sends us to a bowl game. FSU seems to be doing ok with ugly wins.

As far as the play calling, I think there is only so much that could be called. Missouri has a stout front 7 that gets a great push and Vanderbilt gave some new looks and crashed through the LOS. It is hard to open up the playbook when you can't drop back to pass the ball. Against South Carolina and Kentucky is was easier because neither of the front 7's played well.

With losses to #1, 13, 14, 15 and 16 ranked teams in this weeks AP poll. Brutal!

With wins against...
Utah State @ home
Arkansas State @ home
Chattanooga @ home
South Carolina on the road
Kentucky @ home
Vandy on the road

Given the circumstances 6-6 is acceptable, with a few breaks we could've been 8-4. JD's game will improve now that he's getting daily reps with his receivers, accuracy is very important when the D is playing tight man coverage.
Our OL needs to get stronger and learn to recognize DL line stunts and twists. Lots of work involved to go 8-4 next season, after that 4 losses should never be acceptable at UT, circumstances be damned. .02

Don't undermind Utah State or Arkansas State as they were both successful in their respective conferences. The Kentucky win was impressive as we made a statement by winning 30+. It'll be interesting to see how the Vols shape up against a team that is similar to them, also more experience time for Josh Dobbs who is still developing as a passer. I'm actually hoping we can get the matchup vs. Louisville as I think that would be a challenge, and a winnable matchup.

The only thing I can say is get over it. The goal was accomplished and all of your crying will not bring about a change. The arm chair QBs on this site have their own agendas and feel constant chaos is the answer to anything I guess.

I'm the guy that posted the wins. Not the losses.

To point out our brutal schedule and the ranking of the teams who beat us. This is the reason we have played the hardest schedule in football on average the last two years. It is what it is. Go Vols!!!

If u couldn't beat these six..geez they are terrible.. We still sux in reality..no wins against ranked teams n an inexcusable loss to fla..

With all that win the bowl game n close strong on recruiting front.. N I will be happy.

6-6 is in our rearview mirror. Let it fade away as quickly as we are in a position to go 7-6 for our first winning season in way too long.

Coach Jones and his staff are focusing on what lies ahead for team 118 & 119. Let's ALL do the same and support the future of the Vols!

6-6 was my preseason projection. We should have been 7-5 though. That Florida loss is beyond frustrating.

What's your point? For the young, inexperienced team we had this year I could not be prouder of them. Yes we only won 6 games ( FYI that qualifies us for a bowl game ). In all the loses they fought till the end and it could have gone either way in 2-3 of them.

GBO
