Frankly, I think there are better coaches out there- particularly for WR.

Our passing game is almost non existent. With the talented receivers that we have, we should average 300 yards passing per game, along with a 200 rushing yards from Hurd, Kamara & Kelly.

300 and 200???

Wow

Can you name the last SEC team to do that?

Personally I think it should be an NCAA rule that any coach who voluntarily leaves a program that's making a bowl appearance for another program should have to remain until after the bowl game. It's completely unfair to that coach's current team who worked so hard all year, only to get to a bowl and be put at a potential disadvantage because their coach found greener pastures.

When drawing up contracts, most Athletic Departments include a contract date of early Feb. This way, the coach has broken the contract should he leave before the contract ends.
Bonuses for bowl appearances! Buy out from university that just hired him.

Look at Elders! He is set to get a $20,000 bonus when he coachs in the bowl game. Pretty sure he will stay until after bowl game.

I do think that getting Terry Fair back to Knoxville would be great,I thought the secondary looked better when he was here,of course we all know what opinions are worth :)

GAs don't do a lot of on field coaching. they hit the office Saturday night after the football games and cut up film all night for the defensive staff (in this case) so when they come in on Sunday morning they can then start reviewing film with players. They do a lot of mundane things but it is a start to a coaching career.

So doubt Terry had much influence on the DBs the year he was here.

Jim Bob Cooter told me that when he worked as a GA for Cutcliffe at UT in 07-08. Cut ran him ragged

Would love to know

Doubt more than a few at most have done it

the best UT ever did was 1993. Averaged 238 rushing and 242 passing.

only other years they top 200 yards in both were:

1991 - 212 rush 255 pass

1990 - 205 rush 205 pass

90 and 91 the OC was Fulmer. 93 it was Cut

The relationship that he built with Guarantano and his father speaks to how he can recruit. Recruting is all about relationships. Guarantano's father tweeted something along the lines of Sheridan could coach his kid any day. That is a top flight quarterback and family that is impressed by Sheridan's knowledge and rapport. That speaks to what Sheridan can do. That along with the staff likes him and respects him are good signs if he is hired.
I think Butch being close to his father probably had more to do with it though, man

Well done OP. This is the kind of stuff I tune in for.

Except maybe the drama and speculation of Tee Martin's family values.

I've learnt Spanish and I like that kinda stuff.

Good stuff

If we are looking for 300/200 we dang sure need to adjust our expectations

Inaugural BCS National Championship game disagrees.

Per John Brice

As we noted late Thursday night/Friday morning in the War Room, Zach Azzanni reemerged this week on the radar at Maryland after new Terps' coach D.J. Durkin worked through his interviews, made additional staff moves and also may have worked further down on some of his candidate lists, per sources in the Midwest and here.

In fact, multiple sources in Maryland and on Rocky Top today indicated that Azzanni has interviewed either today or in the last 24 hours for a high-level position on Durkin's inaugural Maryland staff. Azzanni is under contract at Tennessee through Feb. 2017 but can break the pact by paying 33 percent of all remaining salary on the deal, which was renewed earlier this year.

Also, today in Maryland sources indicated that Terps running backs coach Terry Richardson was not retained by Durkin as the new head coach begins to work through his offensive staff.

As we've continued to note, expect Greg Meyer to join Mark Elder's Eastern Kentucky staff, with Chase Gibson also a possible fit there. Elder is retaining to just one member of the outgoing EKU staff.

It's our understanding that any coach(es) who accept new positions will be expected to work through the bowl game with the Vols, and it also is required for coaches to collect their 8.33-percent postseason bonuses.

Lastly, after spending time on campus this week and talking with folks across the state, we continue to look for a close timeline on the modifications and raises to Butch Jones' contract, which again should take Jones into the $4 million annual salary neighborhood.
