Assistant Coach leaving?

This guy needs to leave...forced too or voluntarily...he is the weakest link on the defensive side of the ball.

I can imagine some hostility from the defensive coaches. In the early part of the season when the offense was hurrying up doing many 3 and outs in uptempo, the defense was on the field a lopsided percentage of those games. I think the time of possessions took their toll on injured players and just drove the D coaches jaded. I would bet Shoup resigns very promptly. I don't think he suddenly became a bad DC. I just believe this kind of strategy wasn't what he though he was hired for. For all we know, there may have been all kinds of tension behind the scenes among the coaches. They keep those things real hushed. But this Defense is a far cry from last year's with many of the same personnel. Some bad blood or dissension is possible. The effort and fire hasn't been there.

I expect a coaching exodus similar to post season 2011. and no, Butch Jones will not be fired.

If it weren't for two years of total Saturday coaching malfeasance, this is the glaring problem.

Shoop made Top 10 defenses with talent equivalent to our scout team. WITH VANDERBILT. For anyone who is confused - Vandy is in the SECE and play the same teams we do.

There is something seriously wrong with the UT coaching across the board if he can't produce a Top 100 defense under Butch.

so with a lame duck AD in place and nothing visible to most of us to indicate we will get a replacement named any time soon...if there is a coaching exodus can the existing remaining staff bring in replacements?

Whoever it may be is obviously NOT leaving because of their coaching skills! You don't have to worry about anybody poaching a Vol coach/assistant.
