I can imagine some hostility from the defensive coaches. In the early part of the season when the offense was hurrying up doing many 3 and outs in uptempo, the defense was on the field a lopsided percentage of those games. I think the time of possessions took their toll on injured players and just drove the D coaches jaded. I would bet Shoup resigns very promptly. I don't think he suddenly became a bad DC. I just believe this kind of strategy wasn't what he though he was hired for. For all we know, there may have been all kinds of tension behind the scenes among the coaches. They keep those things real hushed. But this Defense is a far cry from last year's with many of the same personnel. Some bad blood or dissension is possible. The effort and fire hasn't been there.
