Plan on picking up one of these games this week, just wanted to see what you guys think about the two. Keep in mind I've not played the previous Assassin's Creed or Fable games.

I've never played Fable, but from my experiences with AC I would go for Brotherhood. The story and gameplay are there. I love the puzzles that come with AC to unlock the truth. The graphics are great, and there is enough in missions and side projects to keep you busy for a long time with this game. Brotherhood also has a new MP feature. I'm not sure how good it is since this is really the first time they've done this. I plan on picking up Brotherhood myself. Just my opinion, hopefully someone who has played both could give you more of an insight into the pros and cons of each.

I love AC, and wasn't a big fan of Fable II (didn't play Fable III). As soon as I get paid on Thursday, I'm running over to Game Stop to pick up my copy. I'd really encourage you to play the previous AC games though. As the story is really good and builds directly off the previous games. Though if you don't care about story and just want to have fun, you should still enjoy it.

I would say just play AC2 to get the backstory. The first one wasn't planned out well IMO. Too much back and forth with the modern day character, and you had to slog way too far to get your missions in the first one. They changed that for the second and now Brotherhood. Now you can find missions all over the map by locating pigeon coups. If you want to play AC1, be sure to devote a lot of time to running back and forth...

The traipsing back and forth was my only complaint with the first one. They kinda had to switch time periods a lot to lay the back story in the first game. Don't hate on them for that. Plus you only get to see Sarah Marshall is when you are in present day mode.

AC1 was the first game I got for the PS3, I shed a tear when I saw the in-game graphics for the first time.

I'm not hating on them for that. The first game/movie is always slower since you have to tell the story and you have the character development. I just hated always having to go ALLLLLLLL the way back to get my missions. I was so amazed at the graphics too. Can't wait to scrounge up enough money to pick this up.

Love both series. Played AC1 and AC2 as well as both Fables.

Fable I was why I bought the original xbox, and I loved the game. Fable II was less awesome, but it was endless hours of fun.

AC1 quickly became repetitive. AC2 did not, but the story line was kind of "meh."

If you are shooting for time consumption, I would probably go with Fable III. There are lots of little side games in both, but all said, the Fable series usually has so many various paths that it is almost impossible to see everything.

AC is more scripted in that respect. You choose which mini-games to take, with the ultimate goal of finding enough information to assassinate a given target.

Fable gives you more paths.

All that said, I have yet to play Fable III or AC3. But if they follow suit from their predecessors, you really can't go wrong with either.
