Go back to post #315 in this thread. He claimed Sills had a laser timed 4.58 40. I asked if how I could verify that since he doesn't look that fast. For verification of his laser timed 4.58 40... he recommended that I go look at the TCU game (which I've watched). If he's talking about the same play, Sills wasn't behind the D because he blew by a CB. On numerous plays, I've seen him get a step or two or even 3 on a CB only to have the CB close on him from behind. It doesn't make him a bad receiver. It would be foolish to claim that. He runs routes well. He catches the ball. He's big. He's apparently smart and a good student of the game. But this whole line of argument that WVU has the best receiver group in the country is ridiculous. They're "system" receivers with a great QB operating that system. Without Grier, no one would mistake them for being better than the top half of the Big12 as a WR group. They're also not very deep. They have 3 returning WR's and a transfer from Bama that they talk about. Those 3 caught 192 passes last year. The other 6 returning WR's combined totaled 11 catches on the year.SJT, I'm all for you giving WVU fans the what-for, but you've lost track of your own conversation.
You said after having watched several games, you've yet to see him [some WVU player, I suppose] get behind a defense in the open field.
So wvu2003 suggested you go watch their game against TCU.
And your response was asking if they stopped the game to time him in the 40? That's a complete non sequitor. You weren't talking about 40 times with him, you were talking about a guy getting past a defense.
I think maybe you're taking part in too many conversations at once, brother. You're losing track of which is which.![]()

They know what happens if Grier gets hurt. But what few talk about is that if they lose Simms, Sills, or Jennings... it could be just as bad.
The non sequitur was when he offered a play in which he did get behind the D as proof that he has a laser timed 4.58 40.
There's lots of ways a guy without elite speed can get behind D's.
I guess you should go back to post #309 where I challenged him on Sills being a 4.5 guy (which he asserted wasn't fast when it actually is plenty fast). That's where it started... not with me claiming he never got behind a D.
lol some millennials are pushing around 40 now. When in doubt, can't blame everything on those rascal millennials anymore!
You need to go back to the beginning of the conversation. My response about him getting behind D's in an open field play was in the context of a response to his claim about the laser timed 40. Just click the little arrows starting at post 393 to follow my conversation with him on that point. It will take you less than a minute. Two more clicks up from the comment you latched on to will help you understand. You sure made that complicated, SJT.
But conversations are actually usually pretty simple. A person says something, and the other person responds to what the person just said. Not what they said three exchanges ago.
The current topic was "getting behind a defense". You made it the current topic. He responded in good faith. Don't go moving the goalposts of THAT part of the conversation after he answers you. Did the guy get behind the TCU defense, or not?

This is the first thing I thought of when we got the offsides penalty on yalls last FG, I feel like it happened just for you. I told my wife, great now they are gonna get a TD, she said what does it matter, I was thinking oh it matters lol. Congrats, we suck again.
