I need you too, and it is "food" related! :)

Just kidding.

Ha! I posted my question in the rtt, but I was thinking you were my best bet. I cannot get him to gain any. Hes a very active little dog but he looks poor imo. I cant upload to photobucket caused they changed the blooming thing. But I will post one or two to my album

I would consult a vet.

I will say this. I gave Behr fresh meat and fresh veggies his 1st six months along with a tablespoon of olive oil drizzled over it. With plenty of exercise, he gained weight but stayed healthy. The olive oil helps with shedding also.

Again, I would consult a vet.

Check this website out. This is what I feed Behr and have been since he was 6 months old.

Thanks darlin, I put some pics in my album, maybe its just me going overboard

FD, what are you feeding him now? twice a day? morning and night? Is he kept in a crate at night? I got two wiener dogs and mine are hard to keep from getting fat? But I take mine on walks and hikes lately with the warmer weather that has them both losing weight.

Hes inside on a pallet at night, but they have access to feed and water at all times whether inside or out. He goes out if its warm during the day. Clemmy is one thats a real easy gainer which is why I cant figure out how hes not putting on some lbs.

Edit: he gets sportmix high energy ( thats what his previous owners gave h and I havent changed it yet)

I know you don't want to change your routine since you have Clemmy used to the routine of food always available. I would feed the new boy from a bowl later in the evening so you can see how much he is eating. Mine are competitve eaters and I had to quit leaving food out all the time. Can you tell who is eating what maybe Clemmy is eating out of both bowls? One of my lil dogs loves to do this. Behr is right though to consult a vet because depending where he was kept by previous owner could have a doggy tapeworm or something if he is eating and not gaining weight. He is skinny in the pics but not totally emaciated. Can you see his ribs, can't tell in pics?

Yep, you can. I was thinking tapeworm myself. I can feed them seperate as hes not in a good routine yet. I may try this. What do the vets do as far as the tapeworm?

Check his sh!t. He would have rice looking crap in there. I think you said he was wormed but if the previous owners neglected him he could need more medication. Depending on where he was kept by previous owner could have another parasite and need to see the vet. I would just try to moniter his eating and check his poop. If he is eating good and not gaining weight then probably a parasite. Maybe the previous owners didn't feed him enough and his stomach has shrunk? Don't know the background of him.

Possibly. They were a really sweet older couple who couldnt handle his energy. He was an only dog bought from a breeder. I appreciate your help and am gonna call the vet now and see what I can do

I would definitely advise a vet visit to check for worms, if he hasn't been checked recently. I forgot what kind of worms they are that some of my dogs had, but the vet said they can pick them up just from eating dirt or grass in the yard.

If he's a large breed, you don't want him to have too much weight anyway, but there is a balance between too big and too skinny. MY3*CANBEATUPUR5* is definitely on point with his advice.

I would also recommend feeding him at set times in the morning and night, and not leaving food down all day...

helps to get then in a routine not only for feeding but for when he will go to the bathroom

the other thing we've done ito spur weight gain and eating is to feed hhem beef and rice for a few days...then go to rice with the food, and ultimately just to dry food.

good luck

Just looked at your pics to see your dog.

How in the WORLD do you keep the tangles out of your hair?? Mine is just past mid way down my back and I cuss it every morning.

Vg, u use conditioner?

Yeah. I love Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition. It works really well. Last thing I bought was Pantene (good deal at Sam's). But right at the nape of my neck, I get the worst tangles! I think I could rock some dreadlocks. I get half way there during the night in my sleep. lol

I looked for posts from you the other day. There were only a couple I could remember in KY, and I knew storms went through there. I wasn't sure where in KY you were.

We made it through. Hit badly in some places around us, but we were spared. Watched one on the otherwise of the mtn in front of our house, thought it was gonna pop over n flatten us but it pushed off another direction

I use treseme for color treated. I like it. I prefer salon shampoo/conditioner. But I'm a poor girl right now

One hit close here, bout a mile from our house. A lady I got to church with lost her house, two of my son's school friends lost their houses. And my step-mom's sister had a lot of damage to her house. It's incredible no one here died.

Lots of us were blessed that day.

WTF?? I thought this was a Food Thread!!!!!

Obviously just kidding, I'm glad it's still being used for..... anything. :cray:

Nutrients to your hair come in many forms. The foods you eat, and the plant extracts you apply to your hair.

Happy?
