I love the SEC. I want our program to be at the top of the SEC because it would put us in the nations’ elite.

However, I’m watching the Top 25, and looking through some of the schedules. Wow. How bad are we compared to some other “top 25” teams.

It’s dangerous to do the schedule swap scenario with some of these other schools, but man does it reinforce how hard a rebuild is in the SEC.

I agree it’s tough to rebuild in the SEC, but this team right now would have a hard time in any of the Power 5 conferences right now. I can’t objectively say that we would be >.500 in the ACC, PAC12, Big Ten, Big 12 in conference games.

Without our schedule we would be better. Just look at the current AP.

WV-#7
Bama- #1
UGA- #5
UF- #19
AU- was top 25 when we played them
UK- #12

Thats 3 top 10 teams and 2 of the most explosive offenses in the nation. Take those and replace them with weaker opponents and we would absolutely have a better record.

Yeah, if you replace them with FCS teams our record would improve, we would still be a bad time.
Fact is, we got blown out by the good teams we played. You could make the argument we would have a better record replacing those teams with other power 5 teams, if we were at least competative with those teams, but we are not.

Either way, not really worth arguing since it cant be proven either way. What can be proven is that we are not a good football team, regardless of own is on our schedule.

Most see next year's schedule as a respite from the gauntlets they've navigated (very poorly) the last few years. But what if BYU and Miss St. have lights out off-seasons? This is the lame excuse that can always be reloaded and fired again.

We're a bad football team, we suck, we should schedule Single A high school teams. Why won't anyone stop with the poor mouthing this football team. I see a lot of improvement from West Virginia to now. We obviously don't have as much talent as other teams in the SEC, from reading on here, there was no accountability for skipping strength and conditioning with Butch, a few guys that may have helped this team left early or transferred out. But come on, these guys are busting their butts for Tennessee. Give them at least some respect for hanging in and trying. I know, you pay the money for tickets, concessions, parking, and all that, and you could spend your money some other way, and truthfully, if all you can put on here is negativity, maybe you should. I'm disappointed too, but the blame is on the powerful boosters, with enough money to have paid for the best coach in football, wanted to go cheap. Actually, I think they never thought Kiffen would leave after a year, but even then, this bunch still could have gotten anyone they wanted. Rant over. Flame away.

College/pro football coaches are the same as CEOs in business. You never truly know how bad things are until the CEO leaves. Then the new CEO begins many sentences with "WTF?"

If you are worried about our schedule you can quickly fix it. Join the Sun Belt or Ohio’s Valley Cinference. No one was complaining when we were beating those teams. UT either needs to man up or align the school with a lesser strategic plan. After all, we seem to use that plan to hire cheap coaches.

What if there were no fixed opponents in the west side of SEC, which there should not be, maybe this year we rotated into Arkansas instead of Bama. Our record could stand a chance to be a little better, plus you would not be beat up by Bama. Just saying scheduling does help although I hate these scrub games that UT plays.

The hard pill to swallow is that next year we should be better, by all accounts. However, so will Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Bama.................................................

Yes it would absolutely change it.

Sure, it would change it if we played in the lessor conferences that our beloved Butch came from. However, it would still take time to be "top level" in a conference of this level...
I think looking at our last chapter, our Butch was recruiting with the lesser conference type player he got. Not SEC (or other big conference) type recruits.

Look at ranked UCFs schedule. UCF Knights Schedule - 2018 | ESPN

We would be undefeated with that schedule.
Not likely...
I will say this team does not belong in the top 10.. Have watched them play, they could win some in the big time, but not above mid conference level.
It's not that there schedule is in anyway tough. It's that we are not.......
