Just makes me laugh. They act like a half million dollars is nothing when the guy was making 1.3. The man was in year 3 and limped into the tourney with a team that under performed all year long. IMO a half million dollars and a 2 year extension was a gift. All the man had to do was perform better and more $$ and a longer term deal would have been in play. Isn't that how it is supposed to work? IMO Martin knew there was a very good chance his team next year would be worse and he bailed. People can say it was disrespect on UTs part, I call it a man walking away knowing this may be the best he can do, and it was not good enough.

Whereas I agree that the petition should not have been signed the way it was and that process played out as much as it should have; I believe that is part of the job at a high profile school such as UT.

All I could think about with the quick exit was Lane Kiffin. I guy who claimed UT was the place for him and then a few days later bolts for Cal. I have no doubt that Q and Stokes knew this ahead of his announcement and I think CCM got a little self inflated value of himself.

Hart will make the right decision and we will be better for it.

U wanna talk dysfunctional let's talk about yahoo .... The company that was supposed to rule the internet... They were in the game before all others but somehow let Google whip DAT arse and bing whittle into what little empire it had left.. No one really cares about yahoo anymore

One half the crap they talk about in the article was from hammys tenure....not quite as relevant as they want to make it seem

Two these people who r making conzo some kind of coaching genius god after getting to the sweet 16 with this team are idiots...for gods sake our defensive minded coach drew up a plan that allowed Michigan to score 40+ in the first half too much to come back from in the end...genius I tell u....

Now if we make it to final four the writers have a stronger argument...

Additionaly every time we played at top ten team this year we lost just like the um game.

My two cents from a guy who was happy for conzo to stay as a vol but will not be depressed that he left as long as hart hires the right guy...

The hire will tell more about our ADs current level of ability much more than anything is these trashy articles

The dummies got what they wanted. they better hope we spend 2 mil plus or we wil have some loser coach who can't recruit. Then they will be complaining for another 3 years.

The more of these articles that get printed (either, defending Martin it chastising UT), the worse Martin is going to look and the more foolish these writers are going to look.

Everytime someone writes this crap, the entirety of Volnation (on this site and elsewhere) are forced to repeat that all in all, Martin wasn't that great of a coach (underperformed, inconsistent regular season play, limped into the tournament, S16 run aided by bracket busting upsets, etc.). Expectations are high, not only because of Pearl's success, but because historically UT is one of the top 3 programs in the SEC. The fans expected better, no more no less.

Suggesting that we should have paid Martin $3m for eeking into 1 NCAAT in three years is completely ludicrous.

An "insanely good person"... Come on. So insanely good that he couldn't even address the team? Or steal away a recent Vol commit?

The same type of articles were written about Minnesota when they fired Tubby Smith. Turns out it was a good move for Minnesota, Richard Pitino can flat-out coach.

LOL! A fanbase that claims he 'limped' into the S16(no fanfare). And then they want to knock him for leaving because he cant tell what they're saying through the two good teeth they have. Said it before, I'd have been long gone from this redneck BS long before he was. He is the winner here.
