I see lots saying UT will be penalized for things that are now legal.
I'm confused though... isn't flat out giving cash to players or recruits still not legal?
Is that not what Pruitt and Company are accused of doing?
As I understand it, a NIL deal is much, much different as it can not involve a private party to hand over monies to a player. Rather it has to be a mutually beneficial agreement between the player and a corporate entity (business)...am I missing something?
Can’t we simply tell the NCAA to shove it like LSU basketball did?
I get there’s ways to corrupt recruits during the recruiting process, but participating in the Vol Walk, isn’t one of them and neither is simulating the Vol Walk. The NCAA has two roulette wheels, one with infractions and the other with punishments. It could be a reprimand, it could be "SMU got off light in 1987 compared to what's about to happen to you".
So much of it just seems ridiculous. Showing a prospective student too much about what their experience will be like at a university while they're visiting is a no-no, I guess. They're supposed to base their college decision on what, exactly? It's a riot that "UT basketball committed another violation because a recruit dribbled a ball on the Thompson-Boling Arena court during a photo shoot."I get there’s ways to corrupt recruits during the recruiting process, but participating in the Vol Walk, isn’t one of them and neither is simulating the Vol Walk.
I do like how it was blamed on the fans.
Sounds like it’s still ok to hold a basketball, just don’t go rogue and bounce, catch or throw. So much of it just seems ridiculous. NIL is a fig leaf to allow exactly this to now be legal. Some fancy words on paper makes it all good, and a tax write off for the booster as a bonus!
Yes you are missing everything. Imagine the worst. That’s what is going on.I see lots saying UT will be penalized for things that are now legal.
