152-52....pretty good record considering about 1/3 of those loses were in the last 2-3 years, or so it seems

Yep...we consistently recruited poorly and underachieved from 2004 - 2008...go back and check the consistent beatings we took from Fla except for 2006...

I do respect CPF--anyone who wins 150+ in the SEC deserves that--but his own arrogance led to his demise--plain and simple....and he aint no bobby bowden

We had a couple of good recruiting years in that period along with a couple of bad recruiting years. So, I wouldn't say consistently recruited poorly. I'm just saying.

Thanks Phil for the great years you brought us all. Even the people that bash you reminisce on the great teams you coached and put together for us all. Thanks for being a VFL. The guy honestly loves the Vols more than probably any of us. He needed to be let go, but I respect everything he did for us. He can be blamed for the bad 2010 and 2011 graduating classes, but the 2008 and 2009 were not that bad. Kiffin's one year wonder and class of players that no longer exist really screwed us. Phil didn't help a lot with those two classes, but I appreciate what he did and how he represented our university. I miss watching him on the sidelines, but I agree he lost the touch for coaching. Idk why people have to trash him so badly.

I mean he gets bashed so badly for terrible recruiting, and yes I agree his last two were bad, but he left us with:
Eric Berry, Wes Brown, Jeff Cottam, Aaron Douglas, Montario Hardesty, Montori Hughes, Gerald Jones, Herman Lathers, Ben Martin, Jac McClendon, Rico McCoy, Denarius Moore, Tauren Poole, Nick Reveiz(yes I know walk-on but still), Dennis Rogan, Chris Scott, Luke Stocker, LaMarcus Thompson, Prentiss Waggner, Chris Walker, Dan Williams, and Gerald Williams. And other big names that didn't pan out. He was also putting together a nice class for 2009. Cut the guy some slack.

At this point, the Fulmer bashing is classless, but it's not like you'd expect such folks to quit doing it.

For some reason, they simply don't want to acknowledge his contributions to UT football.

I think he basically did what a lot of successful people do. He got too complacent. It happens every day... it's just not so visible.

Some folks sure do enjoy seeing other people fail though.

I don't get that, but it's the best example of haters goin' hate that I've noted.

How soon people forget he is still about a good 40-60% to blame for our state of the program. Not Dooley's part, but he got us to this low. He dug his own grave by himself. Dooley never stabbed another coach in the back and kick him while he was down to advance his own career either. I personally wish Majors would have stayed on longer than he did. He biult that foundation for Fulmer and the bunch. To not see that is delusional. I liked Fulmer, kinda. Overrated for the most part though. Never was an x/o's guy at all. We all know that.

Fulmer is 90% the blame and culpable for the state of the UT football program the past few years.

152-52 and 1 year removed from 1st in the SEC East? Nothing in his history?

Same year we got HAMMERED by our biggest rivals 59-20by Florida and 41-17 by a 6-6 Alabama squad.

Of course it is always easy to spin a stat when you don't provide detail. Nice try though

I agree with poster that says transition sucks but it was needed. I think however that with the prospects out their compared to Fulmer, we shoulda kept him. I wish he would been told he had 4 more years an had to name a HCIW. to me the best option for that was Kiffin. Egos woulda clashed from both sides. I think Fulmer trusted his friends too much. I.E. clawson, sanders, and other coaches. The reason we ended up with clawson is because one of fulmer's best friends was AD at BC. Who interviewed and impressed after Obrien left? Clawson. I just think with what was out there Fulmer was the best option. O well kickass Dooley. I'm just glad Fulmer still attends games and meets with Dooley

It's sad to see he hasn't grasped reality yet and keeps holding onto "if they would have just left me alone, everything would have been back on track". He is truly delusional and full of sour grapes.

152-52 is the detail. NC is another detail. Nice try though. Spin anyway you like. Then go celebrate victories over Vandy and KY....oh wait.

If you're not behind Dooley, then you should GFY. I ma not spinning anything. I 've state facts about his tenure you can't deny. Can you explain why Fulmer got a loaded team with talent and depth and handed one over a fraction of what he had got. That's a fact you can't deny. Claiming he should still be our coach is beyond stupid. I respect the man just as much as you. Actually probably more, but I have perspective on the situation that the whole last decade the thing got ridden into the ditch. He didn't know how to rebuild because he hand NEVER DONE IT.
You lose this debate and lose it badly.
Case closed. He's never coming back nor does anyone else want him to coach their team.

It's not a surprise that most of the University of Fulmer fans are just as delusional about him as he is about himself. To bad too.
