Not sure how "the Fulmer" snuck itself into the subject line. Definitely makes him sound more interesting than he actually is.

I'm not gonna go into all the reasons why, they have been discussed millions of times already on volnation...

I appreciate the national championship and good years he had, but the last part of his tenure was a waste.

How soon people forget he is still about a good 40-60% to blame for our state of the program. Not Dooley's part, but he got us to this low. He dug his own grave by himself. Dooley never stabbed another coach in the back and kick him while he was down to advance his own career either. I personally wish Majors would have stayed on longer than he did. He biult that foundation for Fulmer and the bunch. To not see that is delusional. I liked Fulmer, kinda. Overrated for the most part though. Never was an x/o's guy at all. We all know that.

i like dooley i like what he is doing but i also like fulmer. so stop degrading people for missing the best coach this school ever had. you move on!!!!!!

I wish he wouldve stepped down after 03 or 05 season,imagine how even greater his legacy wouldve been and win percentage.Fulmer's glory years 93-01 after that not so much.But i wont forget the Bcs title he brought Tennessee and the elite status he got us to,just a shame he couldnt keep us there.

If we had it to do over again I would have given Phil a chance to right the ship. I mean Joe Pa and Bobby Bowden had ups and downs and got back to winning. But hopefully we are on the right path.

Fulmer got lazy and didn't adapt to the changes that were happening in the game. It cost him his job. I see us winning 8 to 9 games this year. Without 1 big win, Dooley will be toast!

No---I didn't say that. He is human, and yes--and my last year at Tennessee was 2009--the year he got forced out.

I get sick and tired of disgraceful fans running a man's name through the mud that gave 110% to this program. He is a Vol through and through---and when you're a Vol---you're part of the Vol family. You're disgracing one of our own---and I think that is disgustingly reprehensible.

Phil was a true VFL. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a great president. But, we must move forward!

True, but his lack of recruitment really set us behind for a few years. You can't just look at the good, and ignore the bad. Yes, he was the absolute best in the 90's, the game just passed him up (it's really sad and hard to say that).

I heard Fulmer speak sometime ago at that time he was very bitter about being fired but i think the 6 mil he is getting has lessened the blow.He did win a NC and if he had kept working and not got lazy he might still have the job and Maybe we wouldn't be so bad off.This is from a guy who always thought he was overated
