how shocking would it be if he was a stud for us and lead us to more victories than expected in the next two seasons? i would be pumped, but shocked as well. here's to hoping that'll happen.

if not, i'm pumped to see bray.

Kid was a winner in high school...going to Louisville was simply an all around poor choice on his part. Out here in Torrance he tore it with only one trully talented reciever in Thompkins. If he gets time in the pocket he'll manage the game well and make plays for us. If he is running for his life then.........we all know the answer to that.

Kinda wished Thompkins had stuck it out here, I wanted to see him and Simms hook up this year.

I don't put too much stock in units that are supposed to look good/bad on paper. There's a reason for the saying "That's why they play the games." Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember tons of pessimism surrounding our O-line last year; not that they were inexperienced, but that they all around were just not very good. I remember being highly concerned before the season started because of all of the negative predictions and look how that turned out (1300 yard rusher, 4th least sacks allowed in SEC). Granted we did not win as many games as I would have liked, but I think horrible ST play and the QB/WR issues were the reason we did not go 9-3 or 10-2.

This turned out to be a much longer post than I intended :) My point is this: everyone predicts we are going to suck for whatever reason, and predictions mean nothing. Look at what we did at Alabama last year.......I'm just sayin...

Simms could be the next Peyton when it's all said and done.

Sounds like fundamentally, Simms is ready. I just worry about his mental aspect of the game after the 3 picks in the O&W game. Crompton had all the physcial attributes but when he was struggling, it was all mental. If Simms turns out to be mentally sound, we might have a good one here.

He is gonna struggle at first because of the speed and quickness of the SEC, its not junior college, but once he settles down and gets use to it I have a feeling he is gonna make some mouths drop at what he can do. He comes from good stock and I feel like he is gonna have a great yr, I know its looking at the glass half full but hey why not think positive!!

It won't matter if we have Peyton back there. With the O-Line we're expecting it's going to be a very very long season.

Never know. Last year, we started two walk-ons and a RS Freshman and got through the year pretty well. I don't see our OL being any worse. JMO.

This. ^^^^

The O-Line was crap last season. I honestly can't see it being worse.

Yes I'm drinking the ORANGE kool-aid, but I think we find a way to win 8-9 games this year. Our skill position players are young for the most part, but very talented. Matt has the talent and ability to keep the starting job from Bray for 2 years. I am a firm believer the games are won at the line of scrimmage (see VT game last year), but we will not be horrible on the line. We have talent, just not alot of experience. If we can give UT a true home field advantage this year, we could win 1-2 games that we might not normally win. Oregon coming to the East is huge. I think it is a night game, but changing time zones and playing in a hostile environment can make a huge difference in the outcome of a game. The best thing we can do is be positive and cheer like hell for our team and let them feel our energy.

Anything is better than Crompton... I have faith in Simms, and Bray. And next year Worley!! Woooo!!

One thing I noticed watching his game film was that I'm going to be sad that Kenbrell Thompkins isn't going to be wearing orange and white next year...

I will say it again, after the OW game this year, he still stood out as the leader of the team and respected by all the players I talked to. CW was even giving him a hard time because he picked all the big guys first and the other team picked the skill players first.

I think he will surprise most people.

One of the things I noticed while watching his film is that tends to throw slightly behind the wr, I'm hoping that it is just a timing issue and that with time with his wr that he get from the back shoulder to the front shoulder. I saw this with Crompton before he started his dramatic turnaround. I hope he is great, we'll have to see.

You know what else sucks? if we hadn't had the bar brawl this was the next bit of good news that would have come down the pipeline...
