Large man, long road: UT's 400-pound recruit disproving skeptics | Nooga.com. His coach said Teams didn’t run the inside zone (run) on us this year,” Williams said. “They either ran into him or had to use two to block him and the linebacker was free You think A.j and company was good last year with a year under there belts with depth and experience behind this guy we could be near the top 10 in total defense this year.

What I've never understood is why football teams - particularly pro ones - have never recruited sumo wrestlers from Japan. Seriously.

These guys would make awesome DTs. Their training, techniques and physiques share alot of similarities to football lineman: quick and powerful bursts to move an opponent; balance (if you touch the ring (ground) you lose); size (they average 326 lbs). :hi:

Here's your average sumo champ:

Asash

6' 0" 330 lbs.

Track guys have been recruited for decades as WRs.

Get Sunseri some tickets to Tokyo, load his suitcases with rice, sushi and sake, and and go recruit these dudes!!!

NO COMPETITION FROM ANY OTHER SCHOOLS.

Only 25 percent body fat? That's a high percentage. Color me a skeptic. He's tall and really heavy, and will be facing MUCH better O-linemen than he ever has before. I'll be curious to see how fit he is, and how strong; and if he can play somewhat low (for pad leverage). If he can't play low, even at 400 pounds he could be on his heels a lot. I hope he's good--but right now he's nothing but big.

Body Fat Percentage Charts for Men and Women he's still in the overweight category, which isn't bad at all considering his weight. Can't wait to see him on the field.

Is this a joke? We return, what, 10 starters on offense? We get a healthy Bray and Hunter back, why would we not be able to move the ball?

I could see why there would be some doubt.. But I believe we will see a MUCH improved offense from last season.

FWIW, I'm not overly concerned with the offense, but the major question mark is the run game and that's usually what's associated with sustaining drives.

Wow. I remember when 260 lbs was big for a lineman. then 300 lbs was big. Now nearly 400 lbs? the kid looks muscular for his size. Could disrupt an offensive line easily.;)

Yeah, that'd be high for a linebacker, but he doesn't play linebacker. But, I'd be willing to be that the vast majority of SEC OLinemen are higher than 25%. And that includes Stone, Bullard, Jackson and Fulton for sure. He's less fat than those four and weighs 50-60 lbs more. Think about that for a minute. Only Olineman we have who is definitely more lean is Tiny, at about 16%, and he's a freak in that regard.

Think about what this guy is going to do for our running game as well. He will improve our o-lines performance just by having to practice against him every day.

This is a monster get, very excited to see him in orange.

Weren't we top 5 in the nation in 3rd down conversions before Bray went out?

Plus you have to play a safety over the top of Hunter, leaving fewer people in the box. Combine that with another year for Lane and the oline to improve, our running game will be fine.

There were many saying the OL would be a highlight this year. We returned, what, everybody? How did that turn out?

I understand injuries and what not, but the skepticism is warranted. Until on field production kicks in, a portion of the fanbase, including myself, is in a "show me" mode. Time for talk is long overdue.

I thought the artical said he was 400lbs when they calculated his % body fat. If that is the case @ 382lbs he should be below 25% and in the average range. In eaither case I'm glad he is already working out. Hope he's the next Wilfork.

He was already one of my favorites in this class. After reading that I'm even more excited about his potential. Him and McNeil are a huge need for this class. Get Kirven and Patterson, that makes this class amazing compared to the season we just had. VFL!

“They’re not going to drive him off the ball — even those SEC linemen,” Williams said. “He's going to hold his ground at worst.”

...hell yes.
