It's about Rocky Top.

This article is especially nice considering how much it really does irritate opposing fans. I was witness to it in Tuscaloosa last week before the game when Bama sent a "pep band" (of about 100!) to stand in front of our band near the endzone. Any time the Pride tried to play, their band would play something. I get it, though, it's about protecting your turf. We pipe the Pride through loud speakers before games so they can play loud (they need all the help they can get since we're usually blown out by other bands in Neyland anyway) and, if needed, over the visiting band trying to play their stuff.
