It might have been a puff piece, but it was on slightly puffish in eviscerating the former regime.

The phrase "put up or shut up" probably hasn't been uttered to these guys until Kiffin came on board.

I can see how the driven will prosper and the malcontent will drown along with their loyalties.

It's amazing to me that the discipline and conditioning were allowed to drift so far from effectiveness without the media calling the program on it...

They may have known but wanted to keep their inside sources above all. I believe we are now seeing what happens when the local media has no inside info. They get crabby

For those of us that thought Fulmer was a poor disciplinarian and to soft on his players were apparently right all along. At least according to B.J. He tells it like it is doesn't he? I like it! Hopefully he will get a fair shot at the starting job, and I think he will.

*ahem* John Adams?
...And look what it got him sabo... blasted.

No man can be made to see what he will not look at.

I'm ashamed to see the depth which Kiffin's house cleaning and attitude adjusting has revealed about how lax our program truly was.

No man can be made to see what he will not look at.

I was guilty of this for far too long. I'm embarrased....

i agree tennisguy, as a local boy Coleman was very loyal to Fulmer and Co. and see the things he said about the old regime? that says a lot. thanks goodness those days are done, regardless what the next few seasons bring.

I agree. I'm angered that it was allowed to go on. It's quite clear what most of our problems were due to. On the bright side, it appears that those times are over.

I grew up with Bj and talking to him is like talking to a very intelligent older gentleman.... He has been consider a leader every since his first day on the field. If coach cut was here last year there is no doubt in my mind we never would have seen crompton or stephens. I just hope Bj gets a fair shot at the starting job,and from the looks of things he will....

Wes Rucker is posting a one on one interview with Kiffin this afternoon. That should be more substantive...

Wes Rucker was on SportsTalk just the other talking talking about how different the new staff was when it came to talking. He did acknowledge that they were kinda busy right now and he hoped that it would get better after NSD.

Well, if we all trust CDC, he said BJ was the best highschool quarterback that he has seen.

BJ is a great guy with tremendous leadership abilities. Coach Cut saw his potential but for whatever reason with Fulmer.....Crompton was the guy no matter how bad he played. BJ was never given a "real" opportunity. Now the slate is clean and BJ will get the chance to earn starting for the Vols.

I'll have to admit it is true... We Scenic City folks do tend to fall over ourselves singing Coleman's praises...

maybe not such a bad thing though...

I know CDC was high on him but I can't believe he ever said those words.

Not those exact words, but this is what was said:

http://tennessee.scout.com/2/541460.html said:
"He told B.J. that out of more than 200 quarterbacks he has evaluated, that he was the one Tennessee wanted''

I've been saying since last year that Coleman will end up being the starter. In case anyone didn't remember, in the Vandy game when he actually got to pass the ball he threw a perfect pass right on the numbers to a WR for a 15-20 yard gain which was then called back for holding that wouldn't have even mattered. That was probably the best pass all year.

IIRC he also threw a weak out that ended up going the other way for 6

Judging his quality as a QB from one game in which he threw a couple of haphazard passes is weak.

I'm not saying he's going to be the next Kelly, Manning, whatnot... but he played one game in the late part of a dismal season with the team falling apart.

It's understandable if he had a terrible game.

Sometimes praise is only so authentic, especially when coming from the mouth of a coach.

I took it with hesitation, as we stood no chance of pulling Ryan Mallet or Lil' Clausen... but regardless that's what he said was said, and I don't think Coleman would fluff his own sails.

I wasn't completely judging his ability on that one pass but was responding to a post that kinda did.

Whomever wins the job, I would hazzard to guess the coaching they will have received will make them look much improved from the season passed...

I agree, we will get better QB play this year no matter who it is. If we get the same out of the OL, we will be fine.
