Arthur Jeffery commits

Exactly!
Good Pick up, need about 2 more.:good!:

Actually, we aren't too poor off at DT now...we could probably take what we have coming in and be ok. Here is our current depth (including recruits):

Dan Williams (assuming he stays)
Victor Thomas
Donald Langley
Chase Nelson
Jonathan Hollins
Montori Hughes
Arthur Jeffrey (probably a RS)

All this to say we could live with a 4 or 5 man DT rotation. I know some of them haven't panned out the way we would like, but it really doesn't look too bleak. Maybe some of the weaker ones in Chavis's system will shine in Monte's. :pardon:

Why are we competing with South Florida for recruits? We should be stealing recruits from Florida, not South Florida.

This is an uneducated post,,,, USF is giving FSU, Florida and Miami heartburn in recruiting for the past three years.... the program is only something like 12 years old and has climbed as high as number 2 in the National rankings last year,,, most of the year in the top 20 this year.,,, also the school is only an hour away from his home. This was a great grab for CLK,, go Vols

Kind of ironic that USF had one of the best DL in Florida last year in George Selvie.

But all in all a dumb post. Take what they can get with only 3 weeks of recruiting.
Kid is big and has size what else do you need in a DT?

Not really too much depth in that list. Victor Thomas looks like he might never contribute much at DT. Chase Nelson can not be counted on to be healthy. If Williams stays that will be huge. If he leaves we are in serious trouble. Donald Langley had a tough year this year and still has no real experience. Hollins can contribute hopefully but he is undersized. Which can also be said about Hughes. Jeffery has lots of talent (probably more than most people on here realize) but he is coming off a pretty major injury. Never know how somebody will come back from that.

Im very happy with this commit, this guy has the tools.

That's exactly what I was looking at on his scout profile.

It said his strengths were the physical tools, he is a big kid and pretty quick for a lineman. His weaknesses were strength and technique which are very coachable.

Why is everyone so hung up on stars?? The more you look at recruiting, the more you realize the stars don't mean JACK...........look at our 2005 class, biggest BUST ever, no true superstars in that class......the best player is Dan Williams, who could be a star if he comes back next year, I believe.......he was only a three-star recruit.......see what I mean???

5 star recruits by TN in 2007 included:

*Kenny O'neil - biggest bust ever
*Brent Vinson - one big problem after another
*Chris Donald - nowhere to be found

*Ben Martin - going to be good with better technique
*Eric Berry - the real deal

For every EB, there's 4-5 guys (if not more) who are busts, overrated, slow to develop, problem-childs, lazy, etc.......So le'ts not get hung up on the stars.......Let's get excited about the upside that these kids have, and after they become superstars, and get drafted to the NFL, then we can judge their careers, not before hand.......

These two guys will be alright. I think the biggest problem was Fulmer and the old staff didn't give them(well Vinson:)) the opportunity that they should have gotten. Don't care what doghouse he was in if your going to play him then play him and start him over Willingham.

GREAT SPORTS

He says: "Coach Kiffin was the key for me. There is something he brings to the table that makes his players play better and I want to find out what it is."

Now that gets me excited.

I know this has probably been posted but I think Jeffery answered our Coach O question. I heard his interview with one of the guys on sports animal and Jeffery said " with Monte coming on as DC and if I'm correct a Great D-Line coach." Uhm who is th best D-Line coach out there? that we are in the running for. Coach Yaw Yaw s coming

"Oh man, it was the best thing I've ever done," said the Sarasota (Fla.) Booker High School product. "I loved everything the way they got it set up. I mean, it was great. And then some of the other commits and recruits, they were cool. I loved them, too. I actually think we're going to get a lot more commitments, and I'm looking forward to getting up there."

"It was a great time at the stadium and did a lot for us," Jeffery said. "We got a firsthand experience on how to come out for gameday. It was great. We even did a mock press conference. That was fun. It seemed like it was actually real. The camera was rolling, they were asking questions.

"I can't wait to get back up there," said Jeffery, who raved about hosts Ben Martin and Chris Walker. "I mean, I felt like I was at home. My home right now is a nice environment, but when I was up there, it felt like I had already been there for 20 years. It was just great. I loved the environment, they tend to you well. I met a bunch of nice people. I loved it. And I even met a couple of guys with the same mentality: Winning edge, settle for nothing less."

Wow, you can't get much better than "it was the best thing I've ever done." I hope all the recruits feel this way.
I really like the staff's pitch to these guys where they act like they are already a part of the team. Great way to get in their heads.

well...I think he "loved it". I'm fairly certain that when CPF was at the helm, we never had a recruit have such a great time on a recruiting visit.
