So if he is not given the release then he will not be able to play college football at all?

He'll play. He just won't be on scholarship this year and will have to pay for it out of his own pocket.

The Brown's are in way over their heads. They have no grounds to sue, and of course CDD is in fact a lawyer. Why make a fool of yourself?! They need to go to Lame Kiffin and get the benefits he promised them.

So if Brown is not granted a release from the scholarship here, not only does he have to sit out this year, but also next year as well?

He'll play next year. It's the same as any other transfer except he has to pay for schooling out of his own pocket for a year.

Does he realize he's suing a successful lawyer and the incredible UT law staff? What an idiot!

Jimmy Hyams on the Sports Animal is saying that UT has denied Bryce's appeal for a scholly release. Arthur (Bryce's Dad) is saying he's going to appeal thru the NCAA and that he's planning to file a law suit against CDD (and maybe the university?) regardless.

When is this crap ever going to end??

What a family of whiney little babies. Screw the Browns. Wah wah wah. They make me so sick I could puke. Big props to Dooley & Hamilton for not releasing that sack of crap!

By the time it even went to court (if it even got that far, and I doubt it would) Bryce would have already sat out the year. What is Brown trying to gain? This makes no sense. Just some dad that's butthurt because his son wasn't treated with preference.

OP, could he just sit out a year from school all together and then enroll next year under a scholly?

Or does he actually have to enroll this year and sit out a year under penalty?

Again, I'd wait until someone other than Jimmy "No black uniforms" Hyams reports this before condemning an entire family.

What basis could he have for a lawsuit? Once he signs his LOI releasing an athlete is pretty much at the school's discretion. Any lawyers in the house with the ability to clarify?

He has no basis for a lawsuit. Bryce Brown signed a LOI and and that gives the school and Coach Dooley the power to deny a release from said contract. Any Lawyer willing to take this case would have to be crazy.

Why would Arthur Brown waste money on sueing when he could use it to send his kid to school for a year while awaiting his Junior season and a chance to play football?

Sounds like Daddy lost control, doesnt know what "signing a contract" means and is now running his mouth just to be heard.

Very doubtful that he is going to sue anybody.

One lineman is no longer playing football. The other is not likely to see an SEC snap. We didn't drop those guys to get 2 running backs. We dropped them because the staff felt they couldn't play. So far they were clearly right about one and things aren't looking good for the second.

I can always count on you....

BB was pure marketing for Brand Kiffin; he let good linemen, good Vols, get away for what has been one of the more ludicrous episodes in TN history.

There is ZERO chance the Browns actually sue. But the drama with this kid never ends. It is ridiculous.

And ridiculous for you and crusse to try and defend.

What is ridiculous? We could have easily signed Brown and those 2 linemen. The number of scholarships was not the issue as we ended up not signing a full class. We sent them on their way because Orgeron didn't feel they could play. Period.

The OL that was sent along tried to play at FSU and Auburn. Now he plays nowhere. The DT has already been passed up by two true freshmen and I'm pretty sure this is his final year of eligibility.

I'm not sure. I was kind of wondering that myself.

I just know he has to pay this year and can play next year.

Dear Mr. Brown:

Defense counsel will ask your son and you under oath:

(i) whether Layne Kiffin guaranteed him and you that Bryce would start as a Freshman, and

(ii) whether Layne Kiffin asked him to sit a year and transfer to USC and did your son change his mind after the NCAA sanctions came out, and

(iii) whether either of you are aware that Eric Berry, a 20 year old junior, just signed a $60,000,000 NFL contract and that your son will be 20 years old before he starts at Kansas State, and that

(iv) Tennessee gets 9 national games a year and Kansas State gets 1 or 2,

(v) etc.?

Ge the picture? Aside from the absence of a valid legal cause of action, your lawsuit would only enable UT to expose you on the record for being a dimwitted blowhard.

It is always tragic to see the sins of the father suffered upon his children.

Dropping 2 linemen to get the #1 RB and the #1 APB is smart. You're wrong. The fact that he's gone now doesn't affect the decision. It was the right decision at the time, and we got great players.

Given the needs of the team at the time it was exactly the WRONG decision. That's why we're in such a mess with our O and D lines.

Kiffin publicly complained about Fulmer's lack of recruiting linemen then turned around and screwed us the same way.

His recruitment was just to feed his ego and rep as a recruiter - not to benefit UT football.

A #1 running back behind a crappy O-line gets you exactly nowhere fast....

aurther brown is on the sports animal right now whining about it

fyp

He is practically "crying" about it... alluding to the fact that one son was going to commit suicide in Miami, and Bryce was exhibiting the same behavior at Tennessee. Also said that Bryce had moved in with a girl in Knoxville, and that proved to him that he couldn't trust the Vol coaches to take care of Bryce...
